Hi all,
Hoping to get some insider tips and support. I am a 31-year-old mother of five (youngest is two months old) who is potentially looking at needing a pacemaker. Basically my symptoms are that my resting HR went from about 85-90 (nonpregnant) to about 50-60 now. My heart rate is normal when I am
up and about, but I notice the sharp decrease when I am resting and in bed at night.
So far I have had an ekg, echo and a 24-hour holter as well as bloodwork. The ekg wa...

Is there something out there i can get without having to have a landline? I heard there was something wireless out there but that is $16 extra a month. I may be a week at a time without a landline to check in. I also heard there were apps for cell phones. Anyone know of anything? Thank you

Hello everyone!! I'm full of questions lately- guess that's a sign I need to go back to work lol:) I received my merlin at home transmitter last week and have been slacking hooking it up. Finally attempted today with no success. I do NOT have a landline phone. My wireless router is on my second story, pretty far away from my bedroom which is on the main floor of the house. My dr wants me to sleep with this little guy within 10 feet of me every night. I attempted to hook it upstairs just for a tr...

To escape the British weather I have come to the Greek island of Kos for a week. Hippocrates, the " father of medicine" was born here in 460 B.C.,yes 2473 years ago !
As I write this I am having a beer in a magical place looking at a plane tree where Hippocrates reputedly taught medicine to his students in it's shade.
Until Hippocrates came along illnesses were surrounded by superstition and were believed to be caused by upsetting the gods. He taught that all illnesses ha...

How to find someone else's post/comment if you cannot dredge it up via our own search feature.
There are many of us who have more posts than can be shown by any of the listing features of the site. ElectricFrank, Golden_Snitch & Tracey E come to mind. Their library of comments/posts cannot even be called up by the listing features available to moderators - the system gets confused & gives nothing.
I was squirreling around in Google searching for a comment I wrote sometime...

Good Morning my friends,
Haven't posted since August, but finally have the rhythm, bp and problems with meds under control.

My heart beats so hard and almost seems to have a rhythm. 2 hard beats..2 soft and 7 hard. It does it occasionally during the day no specific time. Have put the cuff on and bp & pulse both ok. At nite it does it...

Hi to the technical guys on here. I thought I was imagining it when I previously commented on my PM and check outs at supermarkets. Well, I have just been to Sainsburys with Mrs. clockman1 and when I used the self serve check out, it doesn't work it just shouts for help and freezes, and not for the first time. So my wife tried it, no problem, then I tried it again and it froze up again, we played this little game twice more with the help of a worried checkout assistant, and with the same results...

Well, I survived the week. This is day 15 with the PM. I am a high school science teacher. I know I returned too early; I should have taken off monday and tuesday. That would have given me more time off and a shortened week. But today I find myself not only stressed and exhausted, but angrier than I have been in a long time. What a messed up profession that you can have emergency surgery yet NO ONE AT YOUR JOB CAN HELP YOU COVER YOUR DUTIES!! I returned because out of 20 people in my department...

I posted a picture of a simplified CRT-D circuit that I want to put on a t-shirt. I had found a circuit of a basic pacemaker and an ICD on the internet and combined them. Anyone know enough about a electrical circuits of a CRT-D to make sure I have the circuit correct. I have the picture listed as CRT-D under my member name. Thank you.
Jogging and ICD movement?

I need to lose about 15 pounds and thought I would take up jogging. Plan was to start slow on a treadmill. I've had my ICD since July 3rd.
Yesterday I ran for an elevator (perhaps 15-20 feet). Immediately after, I felt discomfort in the ICD area. Still feeling it today.
I read the posts on this site about people running/jogging and they don't seem to have a problem. Is it just too early?

I have had a pacemaker for 5 years now because of sick sinus syndrome. Ive noticed lately that my hands are turning blue/grey from time to time. I assume that it would be due to lack of blood flow. Has anyone else with SSS experienced this? I go to my primary DR in two weeks so I will as her but I thought it might be linked to SSS in some way.

So i have an appoinment on the 24th to see him and he thinks he will have to move the pacemaker lower down into my breast tissue. Has anyone had this done? Thank you all so much for all the support

Just a quick check in. Hope to find everybody doing good.
Myself, I had the hickman line put in last week. As of yesterday, I started having problems with the dressing. This is not good. Hives and blisters. I am now trying a different dressing and hope that works.
Another problem I been having is my Blood Pressure has been running high at times. Even at rest. This is something I never had a problem with. With a BP at 155/92, my head starts to pound away. Chest pains increas...

I met a runner on his third pm doing the full marathon this weekend who told me about Medtronics Global Heroes program. They sponsor runners with devices-including pm's and icd's -entries and travel expenses for the Minneapolis marathon and 10K . He was chosen for this but had already committed to the Maine marathon. Your device does not need to be from Medtronic to apply. Global Heroes website has more info and some very inspiring stories.
