I got my dual lead pm last October (2012). A couple of blood clots formed near where the leads entered the axilary vein. I increased my warfarin dose as the only treatment. It is now 7 months later and I still have symptoms. The doctor tells me that the clots have left scarring and my condition is likely permanent. He said it is not dangerous. The symptoms include bulging neck veins (jugular vein distention), collateral veins on left bicep etc. and slightly swollen left arm. I think this conditi...

I may be needlessly concerned about something that isn't even a problem but this is what happened to me last week...
Here it is:
I have a St Jude dual PM. Here is what I have found to be a concern of mine.
New Keyless start cars. This car is loaded with so many electronic gadgets that I can't even begin to list them... This is what happened. My friend bought a new car and we went for a ride. 4 blocks later I was nauseated, dizzy and feeling very tired. I had a weird fe...

Just had my St Jude PM1110 implanted on June 19. I'm trying to learn how it works and what makes EMI and how to avoid it. Walmart antitheft guards definitely gives it a start. So does my Norelco electric razor. Anyone have any experience with power tools and the like? How about lawnmowers and generators?
I have had A/Fib for over 8 years that I know of. On Father's Day, my heart went into some sort of caper with my heart rate being 200+ and BP 200/25. I nearly died on the way to the...

I have had several people send me a Pvt Msg asking if I was back in the hosp or worse (like maybe the bear got me! no such luck!).
I've been here every day, but since the day we lost the site's functionality, the list of members on line has refused to recognize me & put me on the list, but I have been writing comments & stirring up trouble behind the scenes.
Cheers to all!

I always love when they " interrogate" the PM...OK PM... we want the info... hand it over NOW, or else it's good cop/bad cop...
Saw the EP and the PM tech yesterday...good readings I'm being told. Last checkup, I had 181 episodes of a-fib, and was in a-fib 27% of the time. Yesterday's readings show higher incidences of a-fib,( 229 episodes) but shorter in duration... only in a-fib 2.6% of the time... Sounds good to me...
Dr seems to think the earlier readings were perhaps ske...

I've had my pacemaker for almost 4 years now and am paced 100% of the time. During my last check, the doctor mentioned testing my heart to see if the heart muscle was being weakened. I always have had a lower blood pressure - even long before the pacemaker, but I just switched doctors and this one is concerned about it and wants to blame the pacemaker. Has anyone else had a doctor concerned about the pacemaker weakening the heart?

Just a quick check in. Hope everybody is doing good.
Myself, nothing new other then it is time for winter. It has been so hot here. Way to early for the heat we are getting this time of the year. It is to the point that if I try to do something outside, I have to quit by 8am. The heat knocks the breath out of me very quick.
The good news is that they are now setting hunting dates for this up coming duck season. Our Teal season which starts in mid September to the end...

Hi friends, I posted nearly 14 days ago just a while before i was due to go into theatre for a total SA node ablation and pacemaker. I remember being filled with complete apprehension and helplessness in a way, however all the messages i had been receiving from you in all in this club had really helped me. You taught me to gain trust in my cardiologist, to become informed about the pros and cons of my situation, and shared with me great hopefulness.
I went into theatre fully expecting...

Had check-up yesterday and had some arrhythmias show up for the first time.I have been 100% pacer dependent for 24 yrs My last pacer change was 7/18/2012 a Medtronic Protecta XT CRT device. I had six episodes of VT lasting from .06 to.59 all at night. I can only recall feeling one episode at 5:22 am lasting 59 seconds. I have only started one new med Zoloft 25 mgm and this was after 2 episodes. I return Mon for repeat echo and appointment.

I'm planning a trip this fall that includes airline travel and a 7 day cruise. I have a St. Jude Accent #2210 implant.
Anyone got any travel tips?
What do I tell the airline?
What kind of questions should I ask my doctor?
Appreciate any info.
Thanks.

Dr : Wellll, what have we here..."
Since he hasn't the foggiest notion of what it is, the Doctor is hoping you will give him a clue.
Dr "Let's see how it develops."
Maybe in a few days it will grow into something that can be cured.
Dr : "How are we today?"
I feel great. You, on the other hand, look like hell.
Dr : "I'd like to prescribe a new drug."
I'm writing a paper and would like to use you for a guinea pig
Dr...

I went to my Ortho today for check-up on my 11 yr old Total Knee Replacements (Dr likes to x-ray every 2 years for wear). And he said they were perfect & to continue what I was doing which is pool exercises 5 days/wk. I know that several on this site have a PM & one or more joint replacements. Other good news is that Dr says that their practice is seeing replacements lasting up to 30 yrs. That was a nice surprise. As I don't want tp do any more surgery except change-out of my PM.

Hi,
Does anyone know if having a pacemaker/ defibrillator is going to create a problem with getting a regular, non-commercial driver's license in Pennsylvania?
I have a license in my current state but might be moving.
Can anyone tell me how to find out about this?
Thanks

I am so concerned that so many have shortness of breath. The main thing I learned after my heart attack was to weigh every morning...naked. If there is more than a 3# increase in weight-it is NOT fat! It is FLUID! Do your rings feel tight? Are your ankles swollen? If you have a fluid buildup you may need a diuretic. Call your Dr. Anyone with heart trouble is a candidate for CHF(congestive heart failure. It can be easily controlled with diuretics when needed. You may not need it. But wei...

Hi I am new and just had my first pacemaker put in on 6/6/13 so not even a month out. I am 24years old but still have trouble believing how much of a new person I feel like. I am sleeping better and no longer looking and feeling like the walking dead. I am starting to feel worried though because they said the pacemaker may help alittle but there are times when you start to feel better after having the pacemaker implanted but then go back to feeling bad again and they still don't know if its goin...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
