I always love when they " interrogate" the PM...OK PM... we want the info... hand it over NOW, or else it's good cop/bad cop...
Saw the EP and the PM tech yesterday...good readings I'm being told. Last checkup, I had 181 episodes of a-fib, and was in a-fib 27% of the time. Yesterday's readings show higher incidences of a-fib,( 229 episodes) but shorter in duration... only in a-fib 2.6% of the time... Sounds good to me...
Dr seems to think the earlier readings were perhaps skewed because of the botched 1st implant, then 3 weeks later, having the pericordial sentesis ( sp?) basically, ramming a huge needle into the heart sac and removing the accumulated blood therein...doing the corrective procedure, repositioning the leads, as well as the blood clot I had... all may have contributed to the earlier readings...
ok...
I was surprised tho to learn that I am being Atrial
paced 70.7 %, and Ventrical paced 3.4 %...
on the last test, my longest episode was 21 hrs... this time longest was 7 hrs...
I'm wondering why I'm being paced 70.7 % Atrial...Could be that my heart is trying to dip below 50 ( my lower setting), and the PM won't let that happen...? I feel great, and am not worried about anything, but just curious as to why it's at 70.7%..
but, if anyone knows of other reasons for the high % rate of AV pacing, I'd be interested in hearing it...
ok... for the techies out there...
device: Revo MRI RCDR01
mode AAIR DDDR
mode switch On
paced AV 180ms
sensed AV 150ms
rarte response 8
rate adaptive AV off
activity threshold... medium low
activity acceleratuion...30 sec
activity deceleration... exercise
I pretty much understand this part, but...
now the fun part...
arrhythmia interventions:
A>rate stabilization off
A> preference pacing off
post mode switch on
overdrive rate 80bpm
overdrive duration 10 min
V> rate stabilization off
not sure what any of that means...
additional features:
non-comp atrial pacing on
ncap interval 300ms
MRI SureScan off
pmt intervention on
pvc response on
V safety pacing on
other stuff here about refractory/blanking...
don't even know what that means...
anyway, I am feeling really good... have pretty much adjusted to the PM... never a real problem there...apparently, since I'm being paced AV 70.7 % of the time, I'm thankful that "pedro" has my back... all seems to be going as well as can be expected... Still enjoying reading & posting here. Thanks to all here who chime in and help. any feedback will be greatly appreciated...
Thanks for listening...

Hang in there
by Bill T - 2013-06-27 10:06:51
Hey Lubro, since we are both from the South, hey is a good greeting.
Seriously, I have had Afib for over 12 years and fought it with beta blocker from the mildest to strongest and in 07 had an external (going through the left chest and putting ultra sound transducers on the back of my heart) maze procedure. Worked good for a couple three years but the Afib came back stronger and a lot more frequently. And I felt wrung out and crappy afterwards. In 2011 I had an complete AV Node Ablation and upgrade to a CRT-D. I still have 2-3 episode each week but unless they last for several hours I seldom realize they are occurring. Seem like some are getting stronger but there is not much else to do.
Hope yours keep decreasing but if you get where Afib is controlling your life this procedure might be something to think about. It has made my life much better.
Hang tough and good health.

always appreciate feedback...
Bill, so far, I've not had any serious repercussions from the afib... that's a good thing... hopefullly, I'll be able to control it with meds.. if not, I'll start lookin for plan B...
feeling pretty good overall...
good health to both of you as well...

Pacing

Hi
I'm being paced 100% in the atrial ( but not PM dependent )
The EP said it was to try and stop the A-Fib. Mineral supplements can help too. Have a look at By Steve Ryan. Cheers Roy
