Air travel

I'm planning a trip this fall that includes airline travel and a 7 day cruise. I have a St. Jude Accent #2210 implant.
Anyone got any travel tips?
What do I tell the airline?
What kind of questions should I ask my doctor?
Appreciate any info.
Thanks.

I travel the same as before, only I pull my id card out with my drivers license at the airport. No one has ever asked to see it but I always have it handy. When I give them my id, I say I have a pm and ask which line they'd prefer I get in. We should not go through the metal detectors, get a pat down instead.

Some places like courthouses have wands. These are worse for us than the metal detector, don't let anyone use one on you above the waist.

Have fun! Don't even think about this, it won't slow you down or keep you from enjoying your trip.

To add to the above good advice

I go the the web site for my PM (Boston Scientific in my case) & print out all the hospitals/clinics where I will be that they say have experience with PM's. Usually in major cities it is a long list. I have never had to use it but I feel safer carry in with me. Also Boston Scientific has a laminated card in about 8 languages that say I have a PM & altho can go thru metal detector ( not good with my new metal knees) & should not have the wand used on me.

Have fun,

Janet

Hi there, I have the same PM as you! :-) I'd say we are practically related hahahah just kidding. I travel often, I've never had a problem as I recall with flying with my PM. The screenings can be interesting, I get patted down a lot at the local airport, but when in D.C. I go through the big x-ray scanner that everyone goes through with no worries. I always have my PM card ready with my I.D. Prevents a lot of problems.

Wishing you happy travels,

We do a lot of cruising which means we have to fly to get to the Port. I always get a "pat down" after telling them I have a PM. As for the cruise, when we get back on the ship after visiting a place where the ship docks, there is usually a scanner like in the airports. I always tell them I have a PM and get a pat down. They get to know you after couple of stops and the pat downs are very brief. Have a fun time on your trip and, keep smiling.
