I got my dual lead pm last October (2012). A couple of blood clots formed near where the leads entered the axilary vein. I increased my warfarin dose as the only treatment. It is now 7 months later and I still have symptoms. The doctor tells me that the clots have left scarring and my condition is likely permanent. He said it is not dangerous. The symptoms include bulging neck veins (jugular vein distention), collateral veins on left bicep etc. and slightly swollen left arm. I think this condition is called post-thrombotic-syndrome. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?
The pacemaker club is a great resource. Thanks.

your comments are appreciated. Good to know that I am not alone with this experience. This whole journey is such a learning time, we can be left wondering what the next chapter will bring. We can be happy that we have people around us to encourage us.

Yes, I have a clotting problem too. Same story, but my clot was behind my pacemaker and cut off the return from my left arm. Permanent damage, an enlarged left arm, on blood thinners now (I'm off coumadin). I also have the bulging neck veins, and the very blue veins across my chest, down my left arm. When I'm not tan I feel that I resemble a road map. Hubby is so sweet to me about it... he says things like, with my smile whos looking at my viens or he says other sweet things to me about how I look. So I have come to terms with the condition and I'm thankful for the fact that I didn't "buy the farm".
BTW I am never to take HRT again. I should have been off it immediately when they discovered I needed a pacemaker. Hindsight....
