Where does the time Go???

Just logged in, don't get much time nowadays lol, and realised it's been 4 years since I got my pm and about a year since I posted properly. When I think back to the early years I was shocked, terrified - it all seems such a long time ago now.

I had a parathyroid tumour removed last year, 2 lots of surgery before they found it and loads of scans (not mri), was fine during scans and ops and all now sorted.

My daughter got married in Malta in the summer, 80 of us went out an...

New to This

My 4 yr old granddaughter will be getting a pace maker next week as she was born with heart abnormalities. After surgery last week to remove scar tissue around her aorta her heart went into complete heart block stage 3. After waiting 10 days for it to regain a regular beat her doctor decided on a pace maker. Her surgery will be at St Joseph's Children's Hospital, Tampa, Fl.
Will let you know how it works out. Thanks for letting me share.

Bicyclists blog on v tach

I found this blog covering a very fit bicyclists experience with v-tach from 2008 to 2011 very enlightening. It is a must read for all athletes.

5 days to PM

Vagus vagal syncope is my diagnosis. I have had 5 episodes of fainting in the last 2 months. I feel just fine. Blood pressure readings are not terribly low, latest 112/80. My electrophysiologist has scheduled pacemaker in 5 days. It really is a hard one to get my head around as far as going through with this. I am 70,a retired letter carrier. I am in good condition. And yet my heart stops (22 seconds right there in the hospital). My cardiologist assured me it WILL restart in a syncope situation....

invisible illness

Another poem I wrote for school:

Invisible Illness

If you could live in my body, for just one day
You would understand why I’m not ok
Physically, emotionally and mentally drained

I hide my pain
I hide my tear and fears
Faking a smile just to get by

When I look outside all I see is rain
When I look inside all I feel is pain
Praying one day there is a cure

Hi

Just looking for any advice. I had my pacemaker fitted 3 days ago. Im 41 years old , and following a blackout in March I have been having lots of tests. Heartblock was picked up and a reveal implant was fitted 15 October this year. Last Friday I had a further 6 blackouts over a 10 hour period. Managed to get some recordings on the reveal recorder. Went for a download on Monday afternoon at the hospital where we discovered my heart had stopped 30 - 40 seconds on at least 3 occ...

Return to driving job after pm placement

I am having a pm implanted in two days. I have a job driving the LIFT (disability) buses for Tri-Met in Portland, Oregon. Are there OREGON laws/regulations regarding when I can return to work after the procedure? I'm seeing opinions ranging from 2 days to 6 months and understand that each state may have different laws about this. I never had any fainting or consciousness problems so the 6 month wait (typically for those reasons) wouldn't apply. Does anyone know specifically about OREGON law...

Scheduled for CRT- D Boston Scientific.

Hi All:
I have been scheduled for CRT- D implant in December. I have Non-Ischemic Dilated Cardiomyopathy with LBBB, 15% EF. I am very fortunate that I really have very mild symptoms, but can do almost everything that I could before heart problem. I am questioning my decision to agree to go ahead with implant because I feel pretty good. They say the risk of implant is less than the risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rks1131

Episode since PM

Had a Boston dual pacer implanted in January. I have SSS..bradycardia. Have had no problems. Walk 30 minutes every day; take my meds; BUT yesterday, about 2 hours after a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, I put my Winter jacket on and a neighbor and myself, went for a walk. Now it was a gorgeous warm day (about 55), and with the Winter jacket on, I got quite hot. Then the road inclines up a little; we started up and half way up I got very faint and told my friend that we have to stop....

Graduation Poem

here is a poem i wrote about graduating after surviving a life threatening heart condition:

Graduation Day

High school graduation day has arrived.
Laying in a hospital bed near death
Two years ago today I almost died
I was struggling with every breath

Tubes shoved up my chest, swollen and in pain

scars under my cloths, years of heart ache and tears
lines in my neck, my blood flows through a drain
Living in a world with...

healing

hi everyone

I probably should know this but, how long does it usually take to feel normal after having your pm & lead changed,

I was feeling great by the fourth week, but now on the seventh week, I have pain around the wound (no swelling but a little pink) the pain is also along my shoulder and up my neck.

I have just had the check up and told the tech this & he said not to worry about it. & that it not to do with the pm & cause there is no swelling, there is no...

Complete block resolved?

Hi everyone,
I just joined this site, and was wondering if anyone might possibly have a similar situation as me. I am a 23 year old female.

6 months ago I woke up in the morning to my heart pounding very strongly, not any faster, just very strong. I felt ill all day and a bit lightheaded/dizzy, but I didn't want to make a big deal of it. The next day it was still there, so I went to the doctor who ordered blood tests and an EKG. Got the results 2 days later and was diagnosed with...

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
