here is a poem i wrote about graduating after surviving a life threatening heart condition:
Graduation Day
High school graduation day has arrived.
Laying in a hospital bed near death
Two years ago today I almost died
I was struggling with every breath
Tubes shoved up my chest, swollen and in pain
scars under my cloths, years of heart ache and tears
lines in my neck, my blood flows through a drain
Living in a world with lots of fears
As I walk across the stage, I reflect
I know in deep my heart I did my best
always make the best of everything
No matter what life brings

Keep up the fight. Good to express what you've been through. Your fellow students probably could learn a lot from you.
Congrats on Graduating!!

You've learned many life lessons already. You are on your way to greatness!
You know you're wired when...
You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
what a great poem!

good for you sweetie. we forget how many young people struggle everyday with heart issues. it is one thing to be older but when it occurs at a young age it is very refreshing to see your attitude. years ago when me and a younger brother were in high school he had open heart surgery. he was 15. i went to the city and visited him. he was the first open heart surgery in london ontario canda at the time. he wanted to go up to the roof of the hospital so i helped him do that. the nurse caught us and gave us holy hell. anyway he has done like super. he is 69 now and has a p.m. he also taught high school business. he did well with his life. so will you. my grandfather once said he wont make it to his twenties but he did. all the best jessie
