invisible illness

Another poem I wrote for school:

Invisible Illness

If you could live in my body, for just one day
You would understand why I’m not ok
Physically, emotionally and mentally drained

I hide my pain
I hide my tear and fears
Faking a smile just to get by

When I look outside all I see is rain
When I look inside all I feel is pain
Praying one day there is a cure

Life's to be lived day by day
Don't let one moment get away.
No matter how badly we feel
There are other who have a far worse deal

We are given only one life to live
Try to focus outwards and find ways to give
You'll be surprised what you get in return
It will help your spirit, make it brightly burn.

xxx Keep your chin up
Love
Shirley

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
