hi everyone. I just joined because I'm slated to have a pm implanted on Monday. my job is driving the county disability buses. can anyone speak to the time I might lose before returning to work and or longer term challenges 2 keeping my job. also I have my own business as a pressure washer. can anyone tell me about problems are restrictions using a pressure washer. thanks for being there for folks like me that need to be up to speed about the realities of having a pm. thanks. jim is tickin.

You'll need to ask your dr about driving. Some can drive right away, some need to wait a month or so, it depends what was wrong and how long you had problems before you got the pm. If you've passed out, it'll likely be longer. And I would imagine steering a bus is a bit more work than driving a car so it might be longer rather than sooner. If part of your job is lifting, there is usually a 6-8 week restriction on that. Light lifting is ok as soon as you feel up to it but anything heavy should be avoided the first 6 weeks or so.

No restrictions using a pressure washer but keep your chest away from the motor. It's not dangerous but might make you feel funny for a few minutes.

Thanks for your help. I'm just a bit anxious to return to work, -re: previous to finding out I'll need a pm I've been on sick leave for 2 weeks due to a calf injury. Now, almost ready to return to work I'm having the pm procedure and have something new to recover from and that keeps me from working. I'm outta sick time and vacation time both at this point. Sounds like driving right away is not too likely.
Okay, so be it. I hope it's not more than a week though.
