Vagus vagal syncope is my diagnosis. I have had 5 episodes of fainting in the last 2 months. I feel just fine. Blood pressure readings are not terribly low, latest 112/80. My electrophysiologist has scheduled pacemaker in 5 days. It really is a hard one to get my head around as far as going through with this. I am 70,a retired letter carrier. I am in good condition. And yet my heart stops (22 seconds right there in the hospital). My cardiologist assured me it WILL restart in a syncope situation. Would I ever like to get some feedback from you. Much appreciated.

.....I dont know about you , but being diagnosed with Vagaus Vagal Syncope is, unless you really like to do medical research, is just a confusing bit of news when,..in your own words .."Feel just Fine + some fainting"
It seems to me that there are some who really need to know about the 'nuts and bolts' and many others who need a bit of positive reassurance to help them get through a chunk of thier lives that they could do without.
Ruby,..the very fact that you have contacted this lovely network of, highly experienced people makes you a 'Do-er'...as in,..in control.
Tell us what the date is and I'm sure that many will get your name on the wall calendar. If you wish,..let us all know how it went and how you feel about
It will be ok...ask for lots of sedative,..unless,..like me.you are are a really tough cookie !
Tattoo Man, best wishes from a very pleasant evening in the UK

Tattoo man: It is my feeling just fine that baffles me with this Vagus Vagal Syncope and caused me to cancel my pacemaker implantation in late November. The Syncope episodes continued about every 6 weeks but it was the latest one that caused me to have it done finally the beginning of this month. Slept through the entire surgery! Told it was "textbook."
Caspar: I'm in northern NJ,spared any serious impact from "Sandy." Thanks for the information on the "aggressive settings." I will ask the Doctor on April 1.

I'm 43 and have had my pacemaker four weeks today. I'm looking forward to living another 50 years and this marvelous device inside me will help me do that.

This is precisley why I got a pacemaker, I was also diagnosed with VVS.
My advise would be to find out what kind of settings your pacemaker will be set at and each time you go in for a check up, be sure to get a copy of the settings.
You don't want overly agressive settings if you've only been diagnosed with VVS, please keep us posted.

P.S. - I see you live in NJ, I hope you didn't have any damage to your home.
