Hi all, I had my PM replaced around 6 weeks ago, now have three wires in situ but all seams to be working ok. I have been suffering from a range of symptoms over the past few week but nobody seams to know why.
A couple of weeks ago my left arm started to go numb over about a 1/4 of my forearm, it has stayed that way since. In the area of numbness there is a slight swelling that appears to follow a vein along my arm.
A few days after the numbness I started to get a 'pulling'...

Hi All,
Ok relatively new to the site and it has been quite helpful, but one maybe I have missed but thought I would ask...
I am a 37yr old male and had my pm since May 1 this year. My main symptom was shortness of breath that progressed and got significantly worse rather rapidly. Anyway occasionally, I have bouts of shortness of breath while at rest sitting watching tv etc. I check my heart rate and typically now between 65-75 bpm. Are these type of bouts normal as this is still pret...

I had a pacemaker put in March of 2012. I have had pressure in my chest or diaphragm area everyday since I came home from the hospital. It's not pain just intense pressure. They have done an echo and treadmill and say they can't see anything wrong with my heart but they are not sure what is causing the pressure. The pressure gets intense at times. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this pressure?

Hi, I had a pacemaker/defib implanted about 3 weeks ago. I am pretty much over the surgery and was feeling good up until 4 days ago. I am now feeling very lethargic and also have a pulse rate of 135 at resting. This is not consistent but it goes back and forth with none being under 110. When it gets above 110 I usually get light headed and shaky.
The only thing different that happened was that four days ago I was using my cellphone and even though I had it down in front of me about 15...

Hi Everyone,
Haven't posted for a few years but have a query regarding av node ablation. I have afib and had an av node ablation in about 2005 and a pm inserted at that time. I have not been able to find any info on whether the atria keep enlarging as they are allowed to fibrillate while the ventricles are paced. I have enlarged heart already and wondered if the atria will keep enlarging due to the near constant fibrillation ( afib is now over 50%)......any info would be appreciated - I no...

I have a dual chambered pacemaker and purchased a pulling sensation when using my Toshiba satellite lap top.The sensation is definitely around the area of my heart.Pacemaker clinic checked it recently and the pacemaker is ok. I also feel this sensation when stood next to those new lottery machines in shops. Can feel the sensation as I am typing this. My pacemaker juts out more than the average.Only a minor problem though as the pacemaker has made my life much easier.

I've had a st judes pacemaker for about a month. A week ago I heard a beeping noise that sounded like a siren twice back to back. I went to the doctor the next day and they didnt find any errors , and they said the battery was good when they hooked me up to the programmer. I didn't hear the noise any more after that night. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem or if anyone can tell me why it was beeping.

On July 14, 2012 I had a Metronic 2 lead Pacemaker installed for Bradycardia. All seemed ok until a couple months ago when I started having symptoms of a TIA. I had numerious out patient appointments that stated I am fine. Two weeks ago I went to the hospital because I was having about 25 syncope events in a single day, in addition slurred speach loss of words, high blood preasure. Well they saw me and did a catscan that was normal and sent me home....

Hi folks. As a 6-mth veteran of life with a PM, I've been surfing the site and learning a bit more on various topics. I was struck by the no of cases reported of PM malfunction. Seems way too hi, going by the rosy picture painted by makers/docs etc on the highly developed state of PM design these days. What scares me is that actual statistics reg the incidence of malfunction are not referred to by anyone. I presume that means no one knows except the makers, and they probably aren't telling.

Hi all! I am 40 years old and have a Medtronic PM. I've had it for 7 years so I usually know when things are normal or not normal. But I keep getting sharp pains to the left of my PM, radiating to my arm pit of my left arm. It's weird! It's never happened before but I definitely know it's from the PM area because I can feel that when the pain starts, it starts there! Any ideas of what's going on???

Hi
I'm on Metoprolol 25 mg 3x/day, 30 mg Isosorbide, 5 mg Amlodipine, Losartin 100 mg. Had a dual function pacemaker placed in January. I can't seem to get around the block without stopping several times and taking nitro. Legs are swelling but swelling goes down at night. BP is down to 135/80. I'm thinking the Amlodipine is causing the swelling. I cut the Metoprolol in half for a week or so and the BP went down to 120-125/ 70. Anything similar happening to anyone else.

Hi everyone,
I just recently got a DDD pacemaker for AV block. Before I had PVC's for many years but I mainly felt them as being "isolated beats".
Since I got my pacemaker however, my heart rate at rest regularly switches from a low normal value of +/- 70 bpm to a fast value of +/- 120 bpm. This hight heart rate is even measured on my blood pressure monitor, which never occurred before! My cardiologist verified that no PMT occurred and eventually made a 24 hours Holter recording: Fr...

I had a St. Jude pacemaker implanted last year in June. I have Afib and when my heart drops out of Afib my heart wouldn't start up right away and therefore the need of the pacemaker.
My question is, does anyone else experience an ache in the heart with each beat as my HR starts lowering from high 80's and 90's until it reaches low 80's and lower. It only lasts a few seconds but it is frustrating and worries me a little. It's bearable and doesn't cause any other problems.
Could it be??

I'm guessing my leads aren't happy with my heart! I have been having extreme back pain for almost two weeks .. I do some heavy lifting at work and I just assumed the pain was from work (I guess it still can be that) I went to the Er during work Sunday because the pain was so bad .. Like a knife screwing into my back left and right side in the center of my back. They did chest X-ray they said it seemed to look fine. Today I went to my primary doctor and he said he thinks it may be the leads causi...

I have an appointment w/an allergist this coming Monday, to see if I am allergic to any of the pacemaker components. But, he can only test for 3 of them - titanium, iridium and dexamethasone. There are many others for which he cannot test.
I am scheduled to have the pm moved from the left to the right side on June 10.
Is it worth a 400 mile round trip to test for only those 3?
Has anyone out there had an allergic reaction to their pm?
My "new" symptoms are worsened fa...

Hi guys, I am new here. I am a healthy 56 and I had my PM put in on 1 August 2012 (no warning, at home, then had 15 heart failures in 5 hours in hospital) and have found it hard to cope (mentally), but have been getting better. The worst thing is that I have constant pain around the "nodes" (wires) near my shoulder. Sometimes I cannot go to work.
The Surgeon says my PM is working fine and doesn't have an answer for the pain. He will relocate it if I ask him too, but he would rather...

I can't the doctor waiting for him to call back! It's also the first really out day here in New York .. You think the heat can have anything to do with the irregular heart beats? Has anyone experienced this?
