Going in 13th July for my AV node ablation to hopefully eradicate my persistant PM tachycardia.
Feeling so apprehensive as the op gets closer, felt so sure, but typically having a better spell and the brain goes into are you doing the right thing mode.
I know that they would not be doing it if they (EP) didn't think the benifits were worth it, since it's the NHS know one is making a fast pound/euro (think the UK is back to using salt as a currency at the mo. lol!!).

I am typing this for my husband who is just hours home from the hospital after having ablation surgery and installation of a St. Jude CRT-P model. When he is quiet he is extremely aware of the beating of his heart. I can also see his chest move as it beats. Is this something we (he) ought to be concerned about or is it something to get adjusted to? ANY advice would be great. Thanks.

Three weeks sice surgery had my first check up and all is well. Question about sleeping on my side (where pacemaker was placed). After three weeks, it is still somewhat painful if I try to sleep on the "pacemaker side". I experience some pain and discomfort, enough so I quickly switch to my other side. Does the discomfort go away with time; will I ever be able to resume sleeping on that side?

I am new to the site and to having a pacemaker. I received my pacemaker about ten days ago. A little background... I am 32 and in pretty decent shape. I received a pacemaker due to sick sinus syndrome. I have had issues my whole life and a month ago I took a tilt table test and discovered that my heart stops when I pass out. Usually this is brought on by different triggers. I also had a low pulse that would dive off and on throughout the day and night. The pacemaker started working...

Hello all. I will have a two leads pm implanted at week's end and I was wondering if any of you took a transatlantic flight two weeks afterwards. My EP told me I shouldn't raise my arm above shoulder level for the first two weeks but I hadn't mentioned my travel plans to him. Thank you.

I am six weeks post implant. Immediately after surgery I had tremendous throat pain and a feeling of hard to breathe, so much so I was given pain killers through the night. This went away but comes back occasionally but not as intense, more of a discomfort. Anydody have this, my cardiologist acts as if he never heard of it, we have done several tests to make sure all is alright with pacemaker and it is!

I recently had my two lead pacemaker repalced with a three lead pacemaker due to a reduced EF reading. I am now experiencing diaphragm fluttering when I exert myself by walking to far or to fast. I wonder if anyone else has any experienced this situation and what they know about it.

I'm just over 3 months post CRT-D implant. (3 leads) Much of the soreness and pain has gone, though the wound site is still quite tender. I fully expected to feel the device sitting there, but what I didn't expect was to be able to feel the leads high up on my chest and sort of under my clavical. They are actually more sore than the divice is, especially when I move my arm/shoulder. Sometimes the pain is quite sharp and gets your attention!
Does anyone else get this? And is...
Why would they use contrast dye for a generator replacement?

I'm having my pacemaker generator replaced due to low battery. Mine only lasted for 3 years because it doesn't capture unless the "juice" is turned way up. They don't want to remove the leads because their well founded concern is that I was allergic to the metal when implanted but over the course of time my body learned to accept THESE leads and it may not accept even identical new ones. ANYWAY---I'm highly allergic to contrast dye. They did a heart cath on me before...

I did it! I don't know what I was so worried about, the hardest part will be not lifting my 10 month old for 6 weeks. But on the plus side my restrictions are dropped on his 1st birthday, I can't wait to cuddle him all day. I can already tell a big difference.....I didn't realize I had so much trouble breathing until I could again, no brain fog, my resting pulse is 60 rather than 36. Can't wait to see if I finally have some exercise endurance. Thanks so much for your alls supp...

I had my first PM implant 6 days ago and have experienced chest pain and shortness of breath ever since. Thought it would subside a few days after implant, but not so. It isn't painful so long as I am at rest, but once I start to walk or exert any energy, the pain kicks in and causes a serious shortness of breath, Went back to ER on day 5 - they took blood work, ECG, ultrasound to check for fluid around the heart, a chest x-ray and said everything looked OK. Going...

Diagnosed August 2010 w/ Postpartum Cardiomyopathy (commonly referred to as Peripartum Cardiomyopathy. EF was at 6% then. Fast forward to today, relapsed in December 2015 from getting sick at work. I got strep throat one week and 7 days later bronchitis. Went to the ER EF was at 20%. Took 3 mos off work and EF only increased to 25%. Was advised seek second opinion regarding my labs and cardiologist sent me to a Cardiac Electrophysiologist. He agreed w/ said findings told me I was a high risk...

Well guys I made it! Very easy surgery, I have no idea why I was so nervous. I didn't feel a thing and I only woke up a few times. I named my pacemaker Tony Stark after Iron Man! I am now in my room to stay overnight. I am on complete bed rest. Like can not get up out of bed period. Not even to pee which I have never had to deal with. So that part I don't like. But yes I am sore and they have me on good meds. They put in a dual lead pacemaker for my bradycardia and my AV block causing my arrhyth...

After reading all I can and all these post I don't know if I ain't more nervous. I have bradycardia with arrhythmia and will have my PM installed Wednesday June 1st. I am so ready because I have been passing out and the last time I got two blacks from the fall, but I have been reading some scary post-op stuff. So now I'm nervous all over again. Not to mention I'm 28 yrs old. But I am glad I found this site, because I don't have anyone who understands that I truly need this.

Hi all!
I have had my pacemaker for about 8 months now so I am still sort of new!! Recently though, the last couple of days, the pacemaker site has been incredibly itchy!! There is no rash and I am not itchy anywhere else on my body but the site is really itchy!
Has anyone else had any experiences like this or have any possible explanations for it? :)
I am probably being silly but I still am fairly new at this!
Thanks!!
Leanne

Hello, I am new here and I received a pacemaker on the 6th of May. My implant site is not infected but it is rock hard and swollen the size of a golf ball still. I ice it a lot I am told it is a little longer than expected but not to worry. How long has the swelling been with most here?

Hi,
I am 3 days out from a newly implanted dual chamber pacemaker. I am experiencing pain and an uncomfortable feeling every time I try to take a deep breath. It is better than yesterday but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My pacemaker site of course is very tender and I expected that. What I did not expect was to sort of have chest discomfort every time I took a breath.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
