I had my first PM implant 6 days ago and have experienced chest pain and shortness of breath ever since. Thought it would subside a few days after implant, but not so. It isn't painful so long as I am at rest, but once I start to walk or exert any energy, the pain kicks in and causes a serious shortness of breath, Went back to ER on day 5 - they took blood work, ECG, ultrasound to check for fluid around the heart, a chest x-ray and said everything looked OK. Going to try to see cardiologist tomorrow. Anyone else have this chest pain experience? Thanks for reading. Donna

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.

I wonder how involved your doctor (Cardiologist/EP) has been in your follow-up care. Generally, the ER will only insure that you are in no immediate danger. They usually don't get involved with and/or make any necessary adjustments to your PM unless a PM Rep (manufacturers rep) or your cardiologist is present or at least consulted.
My point is that perhaps your cardiologist needs to make some adjustments to your PM. I think that it is wise to see your cardiologist.
