Pacemaker

I am six weeks post implant. Immediately after surgery I had tremendous throat pain and a feeling of hard to breathe, so much so I was given pain killers through the night. This went away but comes back occasionally but not as intense, more of a discomfort. Anydody have this, my cardiologist acts as if he never heard of it, we have done several tests to make sure all is alright with pacemaker and it is!

Breathless

I did not have the throat pain but I couldn't breathe well at all for two weeks.  My Dr. told me that this was in no way related to the pacemaker. After a couple of weeks I could breathe better and only get breathless infrequently now.  My neighbor who also had a pacemaker said she could not breathe well for a couple months.  She even had to give up singing in her church choir which she loved.  She's ok now though!

Esauphagal spams

I had a device (Boston Scientific) installed last week. Everything went well except the night of the surgery I had esauphagal spasms... My throat cramped up for about 10 minutes which was extremely painful and hurt like a pulled muscle for the next two days. The same thing happened to a slightly lesser extent again 5 days later. So my throat is still sore, especially if I bend over and use my core muscles. I talked to my doctors and they're not concerned, and there's not much they can do about it other than prescribe some muscle relaxers. Those only help during a spasm though, not after. I've been good for a few days now and am hoping those are over. The only thing I can think is its either the drugs they gave me or holding my shoulder in an unnatural position. Sometimes your body just reacts weird to new things.

A bit different than what you're describing, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

You know you're wired when...

You have a T-shirt that reads “Wired4Sound”.
