When to travel again after pm?

Hello all. I will have a two leads pm implanted  at week's end and I was wondering if any of you took a transatlantic flight two weeks afterwards. My EP told me I shouldn't raise my arm above shoulder level for the first two weeks but I hadn't mentioned my travel plans to him.  Thank you.

Yes, I flew transatlantic 10 days after my PM was implanted. In fact, my consultant managed to pull my appointment forward to fit in ahead of my pre-arranged travel plans. I was given a 6-week no lifting / not above shoulder ban, so just had to be careful handling luggage. Helped with jumping the security queues too!

Thanks!

That is encouraging to know.  I realize everyone recuperates differently and at a different pace.  I'm hoping my recovery is like yours.

Glad I didn't make that trip . . .

Hey Peter.

Judging from your bio, you sound fit as a fiddle and 6 years younger than me. I also had Mobitz Type 2 when I got my first PM. I have since graduated to Complete Heart Block;  nothing unusual there.

I was scheduled to make a trip from the US to Israel about a week after getting my PM. Doctor said it was fine so my husband was very encouraging that I should go. But I was in shock that I needed a PM and was adjusting to that. I was immediately up and making laps around the nurses station too but I was exhausted from it all.

Ultimately, I opted NOT to make the trip and I am so glad I didn't go. I developed a blood clot and aFib too. I fell asleep everywhere I went and I felt rotten for weeks. It took 14 months for me to feel really well.

I hate to be so negative but it was my experience. And lest you think I'm just not active or use to traveling, the opposite is true. I'm Executive Platinum and run around constantly. It's just the way things went in my case.

i flew from Ohio to Utah 2 weeks after my PM implantation.  Did some hiking at high elevations with no problems. I have never shown my PM card at airports for the 2 years since I was diagnosed with exercise induced Mobitz II heart block. I have a Boston Scientific Advantio. Have fun and let us know if you go!
