Hi all!
I have had my pacemaker for about 8 months now so I am still sort of new!! Recently though, the last couple of days, the pacemaker site has been incredibly itchy!! There is no rash and I am not itchy anywhere else on my body but the site is really itchy!
Has anyone else had any experiences like this or have any possible explanations for it? :)
I am probably being silly but I still am fairly new at this!
Thanks!!
Leanne

Yes, its common, like GrammieSuex said its nerves regenerating, In my case even after 12 months I got random itching.
Try using silicone scar gel on the incision site, twice to three times a day, it sooths the itch quite a bit by calming down the skin around. Works marvels that stuff.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.

Oh, yeah, I remember THAT with my 1st pacer! I just had my 4th on May 3, 2016 & sure enough, it's itching like crazy. My EP/Cardiologist told me, "It's the nerves around the incision site trying to REGENERATE from the surgery &, as a rule, it DOES get better in time!". My personal experience? It DOES! Once your incision area is fully healed: Try a little moisturizer, too, it seems to help, I use Cerave Cream (lotions actually DRY the skin & make it tighter, making itching worse!) OR try a little Vaseline. Good luck! :)
