How much swelling is normal? I'm smaller framed man - 5' 10" 170, but have a unusually good amount of pectoral mass, not bodybuilder level but much more than is average it seems, I thought that might be a good thing as the device is 13mm (.51 in) in thickness.
Had surgury Wednesday, September 14th, and it's Monday, the 19th. So about 5 days with no reduction. It's puffed up significantly compared to to the other side of chest with no implant. Not too overly red beyo...

Just had pacemaker 4 lead AMPLIA MRI QUAD Medtronic implanted on Wednesday afternoon got out of surgury at 4.p.m CST USA.
Released 24 hours later and have had fever since. 99.6 - 101.0 - depending on time of day. Called nurse after 1st day and she said to ignore for now, it's the weekend, Sat night now 3rd evening of fever and 95+ heart rate. It's low grade I'm told and too early for a serious infection to manifest. Higher heart rate normal with fever I'm thin...

So here I am 5 days after the implant. This is my second day off the narcotics. Feeling pretty good. Still desipite sleeping all night, I seem to get tired and take a 2 to 3 hour nap each day. I never took naps before. I am slow to get going in the morning. I hope in the end after the healing I will be more energetic. While I was never symptomatic with complete heart block prior to. The pacemaker they felt I needed as a precaution and because of EKG changes. But at any rate, we went to our fa...

So I am discouraged this morning. I had my pacemaker put in Monday. I have never took any narcotics in my life. Pacemaker was my first surgery. But I have had to have those Norco about every 6-7 hours since I got home. I was hoping to at least start cutting them in half today. Woke up about 5am hurting terrible. Head hurting and incision site hurting feeling like I might have a kidney infection despite the Clindamycin I am taking. Ready to feel more normal. I do feel like I am sleeping a litt...

Hello everyone! Got my dual lead Medtronic pacemaker today! Checked in at 8am. Went back at 1000. I was scared to death. Shaking when they walked me in to the OR. The nurse in the OR asked if I was cold. I said no just nervous. She pointed to the anesthesiologist and said well heś the bartender. He can give you something. He put Oxygen mask on my face and something in my IV. The next thing I remember is being rolled to recovery. I had a big pressure dressing on my chest. Apparently something...

Now though, after being fixed for at least 10+ days one end has a tiny hole, a bit of stitch sticking out and is a wee bit red but tender. Contacted unit but weekend so unlikely to hear till mon. Any tips? Last thing I need is any infection!

In an attempt to make people feel less stressed. After 11 years i had my medtronic replaced with a boston scientific yesterday. They wheeled me in at 730 am and i was in the car being driven home at 9am. My only restrictions were advice not to do pullups or pushups for a few days. I honestly love doing pullups and pushups, so this is a hardship.

I had my pacemaker installed 15 days ago.
According to the doctor I need to sleep on my back until I discharged 9/27/16.
I wake up during the night and morning with a stiff back. I expect this feeling since I am sleeping on my back. However i am going to the bathroom 2 or 3 times a night. I don't have this problem during the day. Is this normal.
I m wlking 2 to 2 1/2 miles a day. I get a little dizzy. It this normal because the body and pacemaker are adjusting.

I'm 23 years old, I have a 4 & 2 year old.. I have my first surgery coming up in 2 weeks. I have sinus bradycardia, with 2nd degree AV block. Doctors think I was born with it. They caught it by accident when I was pregnant with my first son. I'm just super nervous about the surgery, I've never been put to sleep before. If anyone could give encouraging words, or what to expect I'd appreciate it!

I just was on chat site but not sure if I should just post message. I guess I'm what you'd call computer illiterate. Also I'm on this site for info for not myself but my husaband because he wouldn't know to even go on this. I guess I'm wondering who had their pacemaker pu in as an emergency and did not have time to digest what was happening let alone know what questions to ask or even as far as asking about the type of pacemaker the doctor was inserting? Has anyone with si...

Hi all... I'm new this forum.
35years old, just had a dual chamber Medtronic surescan pacemaker fitted for syncope, sinus pause, sinus note disease. I had it fitted on 18th Aug. I have some pain and discomfort around the pocket / wound still... nothing unbearable and managable with paracetomols for now... I'm wondering, if this sort of pain / discomfort normal for just over a week after the op? It's like a dull achey nagging pain. If it helps - I've never had any sort of...

I'm about 3 days after my pm placement. So all of your comments are helping me. I'm very sore from mid sternum over to my left shoulder. And my breast hurts?? I also woke up last night with a weird feeling in my chest. My heart was beating normally but my chest kind of hurt I was wondering if my pacemaker went off or some thing or if I was imagining it. It's almost like I feel a dull achy feeling where my leads are going in. I keep wondering.. Will I...

I go in tomorrow to get a pacemaker put in. I have heartblock 2 and I am nervous and happy at the same time. Im only 47 and have never had anything or had any surgeries in my life. I know this is necessary. My question is... Is there any way to make the pacemaker not bulge out so much? Can I ask the doctor to place it in further or anything? I know it sounds vain but I'm mostly nervous about the bulge of the device and how my chest is going to look. I stood in the mirror for awhile t...

Hi,
so a quick question....I had my op 4 days ago to replace my SICD battery. For the first couple of days I had a mild temp on and off which was helped with paracetamol. On day 3 I had some oozing onto my clothes (not much) of liquid. I have a post-op dressing on it covered with a waterproof film that's been there since the op. I was told not to remove it till Thursday this week at which point I put a new one on. Today the site has felt a little warm t...

I just had my first Dual Lead Pacemaker for Complete Heart Block placed 2 1/2 weeks ago. I am a female, age 47.
I am a little confused as to my recovery and what I am allowed to be doing. Here is why....
My Electrophysiologist's nurse called to go over things before my surgery and to see if I had any questions. I had only two questions for her -
1) Will I have to wear a sling after surgery?
Her answer was "...
You know you're wired when...
You have a new body part.
