Pacemaker replacement

In an attempt to make people feel less stressed.  After 11 years i had my medtronic replaced with a boston scientific yesterday.  They wheeled me in at 730 am and i was in the car being driven home at 9am.  My only restrictions were advice not to do pullups or pushups for a few days.  I honestly love doing pullups and pushups, so this is a hardship.

Curious as to why the switch from Medtronic to Boston Scientific?  Did they tell you or ask you if you wanted to switch?  Were there any benefits explained to you?  Thanks for the input..

Hi Rodger.  I am owner of an audio visual company and am always interested in how different tech works.  As i was getting closer to replacement time, i started having conversations with the rep who would be checking my device.  I am very active, and pace 20 percent of the time with no restrictions. I wanted a device that had the most longevity with the least amount of doctor visits.  Turns out boston scientific has the best battery life along with wireless integration so i can monitor from home.  When i spoke to my cardiologist he said he felt bad for medtronic because they have been providing monitoring services all these years.  I told the doc that medtronic reps were not always the ones monitoring to which he said, "i guess you will be getting the boston scientific". I also need to emphasize i got my first pacemaker at 43 years old for bradycardia.  I am very active, running 30-40 miles per week plus strength and also have twin 9 yr old boys.  Hope that helps.

Can you not see a light hearted post when you see one?  Not even gonna explain except read again and use your own judgement and maybe a thimble of happiness.

Pray  .. what did the Angry Sparrow have to say ?

For me  , a matter of courosity .

And, IMO, there is little difference between makes/brands ...YES  .. I too would try to go with the ''latest'' .

Good positive posting!

Thanks for posting a good, positve story HouseofI.  The nature of sites like this is that people only post problems, which is fine of course - others can help and advise, and we all can learn.  But newbies might get the impression pacemakers are hazardous and of course for many of us all goes smoothly.  I have come here not having had any problems since mine was inserted (for surgical complications after a replacement mechanical aortic valve, 2 years ago) but to see what issues people have and what i can learn from them.

Positive Post?

bad doggie, and london Andy

Bad doggie, now what kind of a freak would i have to be to go to an obscure website to post a positive post about my pacemaker procedure?  That has got to be about the most inane fetish in existence.  I updated my profile for you, but just a little cause i don't care that much.  Anyway, today I went to the health club and did a power walk at 4.6 mph/3 percent incline for 45 minutes.  If anyone wants to be shamed in a fitbit battle be warned that i average 20k steps per day.  I love life and am not a shrinking violet if anybody wants to engage in a flame war here.  My second day after pacemaker replacement, and my wife is already yelling at me.  I kind of look at her withering stare like I did maybe two weeks after 9/11.  I inadvertantly cut someone off in traffic and they turned around and flipped me the bird.  I was like, "ahhhh, finally getting back to normal."  Same thing with the wife.

wow, I wondered what happened to David Letterman

but i imagine they are hard to find hiding in your stained overalls as you lay stinking in your crap shack sucking on a mountain dew while looking for people to connect with on the internet.  Hi, buddy!!!!

Houseofi - no shrinking violet

by Good Dog - 2016-09-08 21:36:37

I don't recall anyone acusing you of being a shrinking violet?

So I suppose that it is just really important to you that you tell us that. O.K.!
