Fever after surgury

Just had pacemaker 4 lead AMPLIA MRI QUAD Medtronic implanted on Wednesday afternoon got out of surgury at 4.p.m CST USA.

Released 24 hours later and have had fever since. 99.6 - 101.0 - depending on time of day. Called nurse after 1st day and she said to ignore for now, it's the weekend, Sat night now 3rd evening of fever and 95+ heart rate. It's low grade I'm told and too early for a serious infection to manifest.  Higher heart rate normal with fever I'm thinking. Went to have it checked anyway Friday.  Pneumonia not seen on x-ray white blood cell count elevated.  Anybody else had fever for several days that went away within a reasonable time after surgury and nothing came of it. They say you can have a fever reaction after any surgury, but wonder how long it can last. Nurse mad that I went to urgent Care about fever and said not to bother her again and only pursue if over 101.0 for consistent period, it is exactly 101.0 - 101.2 at its worst, but don't want to contact office again ( and can't anyway until Monday) any thoughts on how long this could last...maybe you had a similar experience? Update: it's now been 5 days , I'm on the morning of the 5th day from the surgury day, fever a little less now 99.6, but it was that way on the morning of day 4 and by evening goes to 100.5 F,

Update: doctor said I had hematoma when I saw him today. I'm on blood thinner/ anti platelet Brilinta, it's more powerful it seems on some patient's with post op bleeding, sounds like there is the cause, fever is going down as swelling goes down.

Fever went away on about the 6th day. Has not returned.  Hematoma appears to be significantly down here on day 18.

Every day is getting better.

Did not experience this. But I think you should have went. That would have concerned me as well. I would ignore her and go somewhere else. Good Luck!

Fever

I had implant Feb 2016 and immediately started low grade fever, feeling alot of pain starting in my jaws, neck and shoulders eventually working down to my legs by the end of the day and severe weakness. The doctors put me on antibotics that worked for a couple of days then stopped working. Next they tried medicine for pericarditis, it did nothing. Then they tried Prednisone which worked til about noon then the fever and pain would start back up. Was out of work for almost 3 months and they just kept saying it had nothing to do with my heart or the pacemaker/ICD. I finally talked them into letting me go back to work(clerical) and had to push myself to make it threw the day but started getting stronger as time went on. Now I am determined to reclaim my life and I've been having more good days then bad. Still struggling with the low grade fever but was finally told that I could take one regular strength tylenol daily. I wait until evening to take it and it seems to help.

Thank you, for your comment. I haven't had the pain extend, do I guess I'll just be thankful. Do you recall what level of low grade fever 99, 100.5 etc that you had that they said was ok?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. They told me that as long as it was below 102 not to worry. The doctors' offices never take my temperature and just continue to brush off my telling them I have a low grade fever. So far I guess it is nothing since I'm continuing to have more good days with out any fever and pain than bad days.
