I'm about 3 days after my pm placement. So all of your comments are helping me. I'm very sore from mid sternum over to my left shoulder. And my breast hurts?? I also woke up last night with a weird feeling in my chest. My heart was beating normally but my chest kind of hurt I was wondering if my pacemaker went off or some thing or if I was imagining it. It's almost like I feel a dull achy feeling where my leads are going in. I keep wondering.. Will I feel this thing if it goes off? Should I be moving my shoulder a little more so it doesn't get stiff? Any recommendation on types of bras that support but don't strangle or rub on the scar site? And should I be wearing my bra to bed so my left boob doesn't pull on the scar site? I'm kind of big.. I have been wearing one with a rolled up pair of socks under the strap, any females that dealt with this? Thinking I may need to go bra shopping, just wondering if there's any specifically for pacemakers?

Bra issues

I don't know where your incision is, but mine is where a lot of bra straps would rub. I have a pad that I can velcro on to the bra strap if I have an issue with it, but most of my bras are a VS style that has wide set straps so only a very small amount of my scar is under the strap.
I do feel my pacer firing occasionally, but it doesn't feel like what you are describing. For me it feels like a pinpoint static shock/thump in a particular spot.
Boob support....lol

I ended up buying a couple front hook bras after my pacemaker implant. They are Vanity Fair brand found at Kohl's, much easier for me to put on and take off, and the straps did not go over my incision. I also got a front hooking sport-type bra from Cacique to wear at night because I did feel that the weight of my breast pulled on the incision site when lying on my side. I'm actually about 7 weeks out and I still have some soreness when switching sides at night and when I first sit up in the morning.
My doctor wanted me to move my shoulder pretty normally, except not reaching up too high/stretching for things and not lifing more than 5lbs for the first few weeks. I moved as much as I could comfortably and increased my range of motion little by little. I still have weird pains now and again and I still feel sore inside if I'm too active, but it gets better every day.
Thanks for the boob info...

The hubbys taking me bra shopping on his dime.. Hoping to find something that will work. I have a sock stuffed in there for now, kind of weird in public and stuff. Hoping to find a bra that is snugly and soft and pretty and doesn't rub the scar yet still effective at support. Wish me luck. Today is a good day! I slept amazing last night and woke up and took a shower and washed my hair for the first time since surgery. 4 days.. The bruising is getting worse but the pain is getting better. I don't have to be back to work until next week, and it's beautiful outside, I may even go for a nice walk and get some fresh air.

Hello! I believe I know what woke you. My pacemaker does a "self check" every night @ 2 am. Sometimes I awaken and feel strange "crawly" sensations in my chest. Most nights I sleep through it. I asked if I could have this internal check set close to my morning wake-up but was told it needs to be performed when the body is at it's calmest.
I learned about these nightly checks on this site shortly after I received my pacemaker. That was a great relief, and kept me from lying awake wondering if I was starting into afib or if something was wrong with my pacemaker. Checking through older posts might give you added information on your question.

After my pacer implant, I bought some men's white handkerchiefs. After washing them to make them softer, I fold one in quarters and put it right over the incision, under the bra strap. No bulk showing at all. Did this for a month or two. You'll do just fine.

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.

I can tell you that the aches and pains you are feeling are very normal after the procedure you just had (I assume you had it implanted beneath the muscle). I think that even your chest hurting was likely a muscle ache and/or pain from surgery as opposed to your PM going off.
You really need to give yourself a week or two for things to settle down and some of the aches and pains to subside.
So glad to hear that everything went well.
