HI, everyone. I have had a pacemaker my entire life and so I know the costs of the deductibles and/or surgeries can be a little frightening, especially if you're uninsured. Just wanted to share that with Tupperware fundraisers, 40% of the proceeds go directly to the benefiting organization or party. If anyone is interested I can get that set up for you! Just want to help relieve that stress if anyone is feeling it. The upside is that you (or your family) get to keep the Tupperware indefinit...

Headed to have my shiny new CRT implanted in a few hours. I want to thank everyone here. This is a great spot for information and support. I'm looking forward to getting this done and joining the cool kids club.

Hi
Its been suggested that my husband might benefit from an ablation to stop atrial flutter.
Can anyone tell me what this entails, ie are you put to sleep, how long is the recovery, is there a stay in hospital afterwards.
When might a person be offered this procedure, ie how long after the pacemaker implant.
Does it mean you are then totally dependent on the pacemaker, at the moment he is "on demand"
And the main thing does it always work...

My husband had two consecutive strokes end of November. On December 11, 2015 he was implanted with a St. Jude Medical pacemaker, PM2240. 3 Weeks later, I had to request someone from his Cardiac team come check out his unit and remove stitches. Since that time he has never had anyone check on it or left a hospital except to transfer to a different one.
I am worried about his pacemaker care, etc. He has not been able to go for an Arrythmia Check up (which is the only communication I have rece...

Hi,
Last saturday I was undergone surgery with implantation of dual chamber MR compatible pacemaker. While pacemaker is quite normal for age over 60s & 70s, quite unusual at my age 38. As I see success stories of many on 30s & 40s with pacemaker my confidence level boosted up. Thanks to pacemaker club help to connect similar people around.

I had my medtronic pacemaker placed two weeks ago today. I am 48 years old and have autonomic dysfunction. Chest pain with pulse in high 30's to low 40's sent me to the ER. I was told that I would eventually need a pacemaker and really didn't have a chance to ask a lot of questions as they said I paced in the thirties all night and my EP cardio would be putting one in.
I wore a heart monitor at night and my heart rate rarely got over 50. He set mine at 70. I feel like I am running a...

Hi. I got a pacemaker in January and I am not back to normal.
I have had a infection that finally went away after 6 weeks.
My question to anyone out there do you get electrical impulses and do you have pain in your arm the side the pacemaker was put in. Its not a frozen shoulder. My incision still hurts and burns after 3 months and the DRs. don't know why. I hope someone can give me advice .I can still feel my pacemaker like
its heavy in my chest. It feels like sometimes it moves...

Still getting used to PM. Still get tired about 3pm. Went back to teaching 2 days after surgery... They told me light duty...thought they meant lifting. Even went on an overnight field trip 3 days after surgery with my 3rd graders...my wife wasn't happy. My kids are great though....they carried all my stuff. Still feels like a heavy like feeling in my chest. No issues...just a strange sensation. Is this normal? I am s 55 year old male...retired MSgt...teaching in my 12 year.

Hello,
My dad 55, has recently got an pacemaker
the surgery went well and its been two weeks.
Well I was worried if he can use mobile and does it make any difference if he uses a SMART phone or non smart phone.
Is it advisable to use Bluetooth headphones, so he is far from the phone will talking.
Regards,

This is my first post. I am a 56 year old male. Had heart attack and heart block both. They put ICD about a month ago. I feel my heart beat a few times almost every night. In addition, I feel short of breath even after one or two minute walk. So I am not able to walk more than four or five minutes everyday. Is it normal to feel 1) heart beat and 2) short of breath even after one month? I was in the hospital for a month. I came home after surgery about two weeks ago. After ICD they readmitted me...

Today is my 4th day after CRT-D surgery and each day is better that the one previous. I wasn't expecting a lot of pain post-surgery and for the most part I haven't had much. Nights are uncomfortable as expected but the pain is manageable(though it has it's moments). What I was not expecting was the extreme fatigue that I have experienced. By the time late afternoon rolls around I feel like I have hit a brick wall. I'm hoping that gets better. The baseball they inserted into my left shoulder(swe...

It's taking a lot to post this but I feel like my "postpartum cardiomyopathy" was caused by me.. I dont believe my weakened heart muscle was caused by childbirth.. I suffered from extreme pica after I had my baby and I would be attracted to crazy smells like gasoline, markers, and what I think caused this spray paint enamel.. I hope I'm wrong about this.. Now I have an appt Friday to discuss having a pacemaker installed.. I'm so depressed..

I had a box change last week. Yesterday my arm was very sore , sharp stabbing pain under my arm and there is a lump.
I think it might be sore as I have not used the arm much .
Also the wound is itchy and sore and the doctor used glue which is now coming off .
Has anyone else been through similar conditions .
Thanks Natalie

I had my dual lead pacemaker put in yesterday. I have a pain patch for inflammatory RA, and that is changed every 3 days. After the procedure, and the sedation wore off, I experienced, and am still experiencing, severe pain if my arm hangs down, or gets into a strange position. I have ice on the incision, and it is leaking a bit of blood constantly. Not much. My concern is that last night, the recisdent would not treat me for pain, not even with ibuprofen until I fought hard and explained my pai...
