Its my fault

It's taking a lot to post this but I feel like my "postpartum cardiomyopathy" was caused by me.. I dont believe my weakened heart muscle was caused by childbirth.. I suffered from extreme pica after I had my baby and I would be attracted to crazy smells like gasoline, markers, and what I think caused this spray paint enamel.. I hope I'm wrong about this.. Now I have an appt Friday to discuss having a pacemaker installed.. I'm so depressed..

Reality is most of us have no idea what caused our conditions, and it really doesn't matter if it was preventable or not. It is what it is, looking back and stressing over what if's is a waste of energy and prevents us from moving forward. It's a proven fact that people who go into this with a positive attitude heal faster. Your baby needs you healthy and you deserve a bright future no matter how you ended up where you are. Do you have someone you can talk to?

You may have postpartum depression. That needs to be treated along with taking care of your heart. Do everything you can to take care of yourself. Recovering from pica is quite an accomplishment. Now getting back to health for you and your baby is your next project. Find as much support as you can, both cardiac rehab and psychological plus help with your baby. Every little bit will help you succeed. Warm wishes to you and lots of positive energy.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
