Swelling and Bruising

I had a pacemaker fitted four days ago and there is now swelling round the wound as well as significent bruising on my chest, brest, shoulders and arms but no pain.

Is this usual

But not common, either. Notice whether or not the bruising is downhill from the wound site. There are a lot of spaces between the muscles that allow blood to flow. G Gravity determines where it goes. If you lie on your back, it will flow down into the armpit. Stand up & it will flow down the chest. There will be no pain at all - usually.

I once had a bad bruise on my right butt. Blood flowed down the back of my leg & surfaced behind the knee & at the rear of my ankle & finally at the top of my big toe. never any discomfort - just ugly black, blue, green & yellow bruising.

Sometimes they have more trouble getting in place than others. Ice will help.
