Constant ache in shoulder and breast.

Hello,
I am 76 years of age and had a PM implant March,2014. For almost a year I suffered with a constant ache and pain through my left breast and shoulder- no medical reason was determined. And then the AHA moment came while I was cleaning up a spill. While I was bent over I discovered it was the weight of my breast that was pulling on the muscles in my chest and what I needed was much better support when I was upright...
New bra's solved the problem! Well fitted and good suppo...

Newbie Checking In

Good Morning!
I am a 50 year old male and just got a pacemaker put in last November. I went in for an ablation and the SA node didn't kick in so two days later I received the PM.
Nice to find this forum.

Sudden pain on top of right breast

I am a (still) 61 year old female. Had a dual chamber pacemaker put in on June 12, 2013. Today in getting out of my pickup which I do on a daily basis, I experienced severe sudden pain in the upper part of my right breast. It hasn't gone away now in 6 hours but is aggravated by movement. It almost feels muscular, but I didn't do anything different than normal. My question is, could it be a lead that is giving me this pain? Doesn't at least one of the leads go over the right breast area? I...

Complete heart block

I am a female. Age 44. I discovered and was later diagnosed with Complete Heart Block at 25 while in a nursing class at work. I was told that while I didn't need a pacemaker at that time, I might when I got older. I'm completely asymptomatic. Five years ago, I had an episode at work, ( I work in a hospital), where I had a panic attack. I was sent to a different Cardiologist at a bigger hospital. He said it was time to place a pacemaker. The procedure was scheduled. However I didn't feel that I...

Changing from Pacemaker to ICD

In October 2015 I was implanted with a pacemaker to treat Complete Heart Block. I recently received genetic testing results and the the findings suggest a type of cardiomyopothy that has a high occurrence of SCD - so, I may need my pacemaker removed and an ICD put in. A couple of questions:

1. Has anyone else had this done - what was your experience?
2. Are there additional leads with an ICD or different leads, or is it just the device that is different and will need to be ch...

Does it move?

Hi there,

Can the pacers move? I've been noticing pain in the mornings for about 3 weeks and the other morning I noticed it was more "out" or recognisable and felafel than normal and then this morning it was more out towards my armpit. I simply pushed it back towards where it normally sits and all seems fine. Except, it almost feels like the area is bruised. Is this normal? Can it move? I've had it for about 4 years now, so it should be fine, but just wanted to check on what others ha...

Turntables (record decks) & Magnets

Hi,

I am 42 and am new to this having just had a pacemaker fitted just over a week ago. Previously I used to do a bit of DJing on vinyl decks/turntables (Technics 1200's) which on the underside of each platter have a large magnet which, once placed over the spindle, surrounds the coils and forms the motor drive.
In order to 'mix' I have to stand very close to the decks, in fact almost right up against them (I'm a woman and not being a very tall one I don't have the longest of a...

Xerelto - Not as Effective as Claimed?

http://www.pogo.org/blog/2015/11/fda-nominee-robert-califf-led-faulted-fda-trial.html?referrer=http://www.alternet.org/personal-health/6-prescription-drugs-arent-safe-government-claims

Here is an article discussing faulty testing of Xarelto during its FDA trials. If I read it correctly, with proper testing Xarelto would have failed the guidelines. The guy who oversaw the tests is now up for Commissioner of the FDA

It troubles me if correct. I will contact my doctor to...

Skipped beats ????

Wondering how "common" having skipped beats are after having PM implanted ? Went to tech about 2 weeks ago, said the "pain" I was experiencing was from a skipped beat. He did a "test run" to see how things are going, the device said that I had in fact skipped beats , but they didn't happen continuously....ok...now what? He said that the monitor said to change the setting ,but very slightly....
It seems to happen more often since then, but apparently not when sleeping,(I have NOT been awok...

A New Outlook

I recently posted comments about a bout of arrythmias, wildly swinging heart rates etc. that prompted me to get a walk in appointment with my cardiologist. I was fitted with a 30 day montor and felt good for a day and then experienced strong rhythm problems, a BP that stayed at 90 or below and a heart rate that went from one extreme to another. This was relayed to the monitoring agency and they messaged my monitor and told me to phone them. I did that and they told me they were phoning the e...

Hospital will not do MRI scan on Boston Scientific

I live in England. I had a single chamber MRI compatible Boston Scientific pacemaker fitted in July. It is Device L110 Lead 1 7742.
It shows on the Boston site as MRI Protection Mode, Full Body Scan, No Time Limitations.
My neurosurgeon referred me for a whole spine MRI scan at my local hospital. After a five week silence I contacted the surgeons PA. It seemed that she had not had an reply to their request for my scan and she was having trouble getting in touch with them again.
