Six weeks

Been six weeks since I had my CRT-d implanted...went back to work this week and feeling ok...still achy. Glad I called doc about restrictions...still cannot lift over five pounds and do not raise arm overhead for another 2 months. Has anyone else had that?

Has anyone had any problems with their device when traveling?

Not sure why you're still restricted

I'm thinking your doctor doesn't want you to over exert yourself and possibly get hurt, so he's telling you to take it easy. Everything is going to be touchy and sore for a while until all the healing is complete and the scar tissue is stretched out.

When I first went back to working, I had a lot of soreness in the PM pocket area. Sometimes it felt like I had a 50 cent piece with sharp edges in there. I'd be sore for days. Cold compresses, warm compresses, and tylenol were my friends. It took about two months for me to finally get adjusted. Eight months later I can do anything I want. Was moving 90 pound 4x8 sheets of melamine yesterday. Needed aspirin when I got home last night but otherwise OK.

As far as traveling, was all over the eastern half of the US, over to the UK and back. No problems with airport security. Just made sure I had my pacemaker card out with my ID card when going through security. I actually had more problems with my CPAP than the pacemaker. Something about the CPAP pump unit makes the security guys nervous.

Had to go through a non-approved security device, had a security guy sneak up behind me and use a wand over my pacemaker, both with no problems with the pacemaker.

So now, I let the security guys know I have a pacemaker up front, comply with their instructions, and don't worry about my pacemaker.

Hope things get back to normal for you quickly.

6 weeks

I was told 6 weeks for raising the arm overhead and lifting heavier than 10 pounds. The only thing he said wait longer was a full golf swing.

No problems traveling! Keep your card handy. I've never really needed it but I always have it with my id. We can go through the 3d scanners. It's best not to go through the regular metal detectors. Just tell them you have it and they'll call for an assist to do a pat down. Nothing to it! I go first, by the time my family goes through and gets the stuff, I'm almost always done.
