PM Advised for Dad

Dear Members,
I have joined this club for my Dad who has been advised last month to get a PM cause of low pulse rate of around 40. First when my dad went for the checkup to the doctor cause he was not feeling much hungry and was eating less food, the doctor just gave my dad some medicines for 2 weeks and when he went to see him again he advised after getting the low pulse rate of around 40 that my dad should get PM. So my dad went to the heart specialist who our do...

Pacemaker coming up and sick.

Hi,
I am getting my pacemaker Tuesday the 30th. I have a bad sinus infection and think maybe strep throat. Family doctor called a z pack in and I started it today. Is it ok to go ahead with surgery if you have been sick?
By the way dreaming every night that I get there and cancel. Guess I am more scared as days go by.
Thanks.

Countries to Avoid

I was wondering if there is a list anywhere which advises on which developed countries to avoid if you have an ICD. I'd also like to hear about anyone's experiences abroad. I am more or less talking about countries where there is minimal ICD technology or where there are very few hospitals and cardiologists capable of treating me should my ICD kick in or fail.I am most interested in Great Britain and Europe as destinations.

Backpacks and Pacemakers?

This is going to be a really random seeming question, I am just trying to be prepared.

I am a full time college student and getting my pacemaker next month (finally confirmed today). I know that for the first few weeks I won't want a backpack strap anywhere near my incision site because of irritation and pain, but what about later on?
How long does it take for the area to get back to normal? Does it ever get back to normal or will I want to invest in a nice rolling backpack?

New device and caring for my kids

I have to have my pacemaker replaced in the next few weeks. This is the first time to have the procedure done. I asked several questions that they were stumped by and are supposed to be getting back wtih me so while I'm anxiously waiting I thought I'd see if anyone else had gone through this.
I am still exclusively breastfeeding my 8-month-old son and want to continue to do so at least until he is 1. I also have a very active almost 4-year-old son.
Do you know if the surgery will grea...

Pain after a year

Hi all - I had a pacemaker put in back in January 2014. Everything has been great until the last couple of days. I have some pain right where the upper edge of the pacemaker is. I haven't done anything (to my knowledge) that would have "pulled" anything. Has anyone else had pain so long after it was put in? It's not terrible - it's just uncomfortable. If it's not better in a couple of days, I will call the doctor. Just wondering if any of you have had a similar thing happen.

Questioning need for a pacemaker

I have a question...
Do you ever wonder if you actually need a pacemaker. And . . . if you do have one has it made a difference? I first went to the Dr. because of sudden shortness of breath. They put me on the treadmill for what was supposed to be 15 minutes and I didn't even last 2 ninutes before the cardiologist said "I think we're done here". I said "that can't be good" and he replied it wasn't that my heart rate had slowed significantly and I might need a pacemaker. Well at 57 they im...

Brrr sound from pacemaker

Hi all, I have a Medtronic duel pacemaker. Have any of you had a Brrr sound, a couple of times, almost like a cell phone on vibrate? It made me feel weird. I went in and had a pacemaker check, and she said all was well with leads and all. had no idea what it was but not the pacemaker. I told her I have nothing else it my body it could be. So I just can't figure it out. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thank you so much. God bless.

Getting pacemaker

Hi, after about 25 years of more of suffering I am finally getting a pacemaker. Had 2 cardiac ablations in 2000 for psvt. I have arrythmias PVC's, PAC's, tachy/brady syndrome, diastolic failure. When I sit or lie down I drop to the low 40's and when I stand or do anything at all I go right up over 100 and climb to 130's to 150's. At least I don't get stuck over 200 anymore since my ablations! That is how my life goes all the time. So when I take beta blockers for the highs to be able to br...

14 year old with CRT-D

Hello I have posted before not exactly sure what happened to my account. Well previously in my post I mentioned that my now 14 yr old daughter after a physical to play school volleyball in 2012 was diagnosed with DCM, LBBB amongst multiple other heart issues that we had never been aware of . She had never showed a sign nor symptom and still till this day has not shown any signs nor symptoms. She has been stable on meds since 2012 but just stable no improvement or decrease in function. Very thank...

Merlin wifi issue

It seems that I am part of an ever growing population of people that do NOT have a landline phone.
It is well know that voip phone lines are not very good at being able to transmit data, so they are not an option.

Like many others, I refuse to get the cell phone adapter for the Merlin transmitter.
I think it is asinine that a whole new cell line is needed. The simple solution here would be to use blue tooth to have Merlin connect to my cell phone and use it to transmit the...
