Had a dual pacemaker on June 4th, for Afib and PVC's - left arm tethered for a few days til first check up - have trouble remembering not to raise it and have done so several times - painful but apparently no damage - is this a common thing and how long for most recoveries -am 84 and in relatively good health otherwise

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
Do Not Worry, Do Use Your Arms

You need to be using your arm, if you do not it will become more painful to the point of being extremely painful.
The idea is not to be rough on your arm, however if you do not use it the muscles will atrophy and you will lose the use of your arm.
Most of us are raising our arm well before six weeks. We are not supposed to put stress on the area of our new implant, so the leads have time to become solidly attached.
We should not swing from the chandeliers, .throw baseballs, get involved in a boxing match. No throwing the cat for stepping on your fresh incision. Doing dishes, vacuuming, putting dishes away, brushing your hair, all are fine, just be gentle.
