Brrr sound from pacemaker

Hi all, I have a Medtronic duel pacemaker. Have any of you had a Brrr sound, a couple of times, almost like a cell phone on vibrate? It made me feel weird. I went in and had a pacemaker check, and she said all was well with leads and all. had no idea what it was but not the pacemaker. I told her I have nothing else it my body it could be. So I just can't figure it out. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thank you so much. God bless.

Good question

by Theknotguy - 2015-06-20 03:06:01

I've seen several comments on the forum where people say they either hear or feel buzzing sounds from their PM.

All the doctors, medical people, and PM techs say it isn't so. The PM doesn't have a buzzer built into it so it's incapable of creating a buzzing sound.

Question in my mind is if people aren't getting a nervous tick and are interpreting it as a buzzing feeling or sound?

Another thing on the buzzing sound or buzzing feeling. Is it specific to one spot, or is it a general feeling? Most people who report it say they feel it, but don't say where.

We've had people say they get "ant bites" in the PM pocket as it is healing. At seven months I got a tremendous itching in the PM pocket. It wasn't an allergy, just the nerves healing.

My personal feeling is it is nerves healing or a felling from your nervous system and your brain interprets it as buzzing. Nothing to get excited about.

Burrr sound

Thank you for these answers. When it happened I had just gone to bed and was relaxed, when the burrr happened. I have had my pacemaker for several years, will need another in less than 2 years. It was a sound for sure, not a feeling. --As the checkup showed nothing, I will forget about it--just wondered if anyone else had it happen to them. Again Thank you and God bless.

Mine vibrates and also makes a 2-tone beep. I have a medtronic dual lead pm, implanted in February 2015.
He says he's heard of beeping, but not in years, and never heard of vibrations.
I feel the vibration in my pm. It sounds and feels like a cell phone vibrating. It's happened 3 times in just over 3 months, and always at night. I seem to wake up, for some reason, just before it happens. It lasts about 2-3 seconds.
I've searched the US FDA website to see if there is anything regarding this, and I haven't found anything with my pm.
My 3-month checkup didn't show any problems.
I think he feels it's low priority since he doesn't see anything wrong with my pm when it's interrogated. He says he'll call Medtronic, but I'm sure it's low on his priority list.
I may call Medtronic US one of these days and discuss with them. My phone call about the beeping gave me a quick response that the pm I have isn't capable of making audible sounds.
I am sending weekly downloads to him through Carelink and record my arrhythmias that cause me symptoms as well as the beeping and vibration times and activities.
Keep me posted.

Isolated to Medtronic?

Has anyone using another brand of PM reported this? Like Theknotguy, I had all sorts of prickly, burning, sharp shots of pain, sudden muscle twitches, etc. from the incision site with my Boston Scientific, but never a buzzing or any other sound for that matter. Interesting.

Hello all, yes my PM did that wirrrring thing the other day when I was standing around, I thought it was my phone on vibrate. I have since been super active and checked my heart rate a few times after this serious exercise and all seems to be good.I will be asking about this event next PM check though.Dave
