Hi, just found this club and joined, had a dual chamber PM yesterday in Coventry University Hospital, got rushed in last Wednesday after collapsing, heart stopped for six secs, got discharged last night at 7pm, been resting tonight, just asking is it the first two or three days you just feel rough, I slept ok once I got comfortable but possibly need to be a bit more active tomorrow.

From Blackpool, had a PM implanted about 14 months ago for bradycardia and heart block. My heart wasn't stopping at night, but was slowing to low 20s. I was diagnosed following a routine pulse-rate check before giving blood. I'd aleays had a low resting pulse, but no symptoms, so it came as quite a shock.
It hasn't stopped me doing anything after a few weeks recovery. Still fitter, stronger and more active than I've been in my 51 years!
(I went to school in Bolton - a looooong time ago!)

I am a Geordie who moved to the South East , so we Geordies have got you surrounded !
I also have Sick Sinus Syndrome. You may need a few attempts to get the settings right with SSS ; let us know how you get on. Chances are with SSS that your heart rate doesn't increase with exercise the way it should so you may need a feature called "Rate Response " switching on.
My car once broke down in Bolton - a looooong time ago.
The AA were great !
Welcome to the club

Hello. Welcome to the fold. Did they let you out of the Jam Butty mine into the daylight? Is that how they found out your problem? Yes, I've worked with Ken.
There are many of us in the UK, in fact from all over. This site is so friendly and full of information.
Regards
Ross

...................I am glad to know that you now have a pacemaker...best of luck.
You will be surrounded by people with pacemakers...its amazing just how many there are out there.
Myself, I'm a soft Southerner but all of Mrs TMs family come from Fleetwood and a great gang they are...we were there just a few days ago for a big family party.
Best wishes

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!

Originally from Newcastle but now live up in sunny Scotland. Worked at the RVI and got my ablation done in the Freeman Hospital (16 years ago). You will notice the difference in how people from the States get their treatment. Some good some bad, at least we don't have to worry about insurance. Hope everything is going ok for you.
