I am on my 4th SJM, nothing but good things to say about them. When I called to ask about scuba diving, they were able to pull up my entire history almost immediately, knew exactly what device I had and were able to tell me how deep I can dive.
My rep is awesome. I first met him in 1994, when I was freaked out at the thought of emergency surgery. He explained everything, let me hold one, basically talked me off the ledge. I still see him and he's been there for each subsequent surgery. My settings are out of the ordinary but he never gave up until I felt great. Once when he and my dr were both stumped, he sent my records to the engineers at SJM. they made me a case study, had a meeting and came back with recommended settings.
Everyone has different experiences and some drs do more of the programming than the reps, and most people don't have the programming challenges I did but I have always been amazed at how far he'll go to make sure I can be active. So yeah, happy customer here :)
thanks!

My PM

I have a St. Jude too, and it is working very well for me. I think most brands of PMs work well and the most important thing is the skill and experience of your EP and Cardiologist so that the leads are well placed and the PM settings are properly tweaked.
I have a St. Jude PM

Model PM2240, dual lead since Nov 2014. Mine was an emergency situation. I had been short of breath for years and heart rate down in the low 30's at 55 years old. I never passed out but I sure felt like I was going to many times. Since the pacemaker was implanted, I have felt absolutely great! No pain, no shortness of breath, no problems. I feel at least 20 years younger. I hope you have the same experience. Good Luck!
wonderful!

St Jude PM

Hi and welcome to our group. I received a St. Jude Medical PM in March and am very pleased with its operation, the owners manual, the customer service, etc.
I guess some patients have done research on PMs beforehand but mine was an emergency (complete heart block) and it was my understanding my EP liked to implant both this brand and Boston Scientific. For whatever reason, he chose the former for my procedure.
I have called the St Jude customer service a couple of times with questions and they are unfailingly courteous and knowledgeable.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
