Introduction from Aussie newbie

Hi, my name is Julie from Sydney Australia and I'm 42 years old.

I thought I was a pretty normal healthy person, going to the gym 4 times a week and walking my dogs everyday, although I have been having fainting attacks for about 4 years. On Saturday I was on the bus, going to meet 5 girlfriends for lunch, when I fainted on the bus, they called an ambulance and in the ambulance I flat lined for 10 seconds. On Saturday afternoon they inserted a wire temporary pacemaker and did emergenc...

son in law

I haven't been here for a while, as am in Melbourne with daughter. My son in law died 10 days ago from Melanoma. He never once complained about his illness. He left 3 small children. It makes my pacemaker seem a very small inconvenience

Violin?

I'm almost a month past surgery and I'm looking at picking my violin back up again.

The thing is, the shoulder rest is going to sit very close to, if not right on top of, where my PM is. (I haven't actually tried it yet, I'm not quite past the 30 days so I'm nervous to go mucking about around that area at all right now).

But regardless of whether I start playing again now or wait a week and start playing then, I know we're supposed to avoid messing with the device because...

Implantation Woke a Sleeping Doctor Dragon!

Hi everyone. I had my PM implanted last September and all is going well. I'm still at 3V because the cardiologist wanted to leave it there for 6 months but I see him next month. I am hopeful he will adjust it down a bit. No adverse symptoms but I want the sucker's battery to last as long as possible.

As you all predicted, these days I forget I even have my little friend, except when the implantation site itches (not the scar, but the area) which is not even to the level of annoying, j...

spring like sound

Going on my sixth week with my PM, I got brave and turned to sleep on my right side (PM on left). Well, my right arm was under my head (with a watch on)... all of a sudden I heard a quick little noise that sounded like a spring opening up (boingggg). Please dont think I'm crazy for I don't know if my watch made the sound or it was my PM. Anyone hear anyhing like this? Thanks!

pacemaker replacement

Thanks for the responses concerning my pacemaker standing on end or sticking up or whatever we can call it. These are the problems that the Dr. and our support staff dont know about because even if you say something about it they have a reason to put you off. I think we are all somewhat paranoid about the thing in the first place but its not all what it is cracked up to be. l Even if we are lucky enough not to have an infection or other problems after replacement we still will never be like we...

SJM Merlin@home monitor

I am another one of those without a landline phone (using OOMA VOIP and cell phone). Having been in marketing for forty plus years, I am smart enough to know predatory price gouging when I see it, and St. Jude's options for patient monitoring without a hard wired phone line are simply outrageous. SInce insurance won't cover that, they are preying on those least able their outrageous pricingt. I have taken delivery pf the EX1150 home monitor and now know it won't work on OOMA.
