Cardiologist vs Electrophysiologist
by SaraTB - 2015-02-26 06:02:21
Is your doctor an electrophysiologist (we abbreviate them to EP here)? All EPs are cardiologists, but not all cardiologists are EPs. EPs are especially involved with the electrical systems of the heart, and are much more knowledgeable about pacemakers and their programming possibilities. If your dr isn't an EP, I would strongly recommend you find one, and ask them to review your programming, because they really do have a wealth of knowledge that the regular cardiologists don't.
days like this

Pretty sure most of us have days when we just think Oh crap this stinks..
As for your palpatations they should show up when your PM interrogation is done. If you are not happy with your care you probably should look for a new Doc..if in three years you just don't get answers the office will probably be the same in three more years, you just have to deciede what is right for you...
You know you're wired when...
You always run anti-virus software.

Today I explained everything to my doctor, he set my lower rate back to 80 and I felt an immediate improvement.
Medications?

The pacemaker primarily just helps to keep your heart rate (BPM) from falling so low that you feel dizzy or pass out. Treatment of the afib/irregular heart beats etc. often involves prescription medications and if those are not effective or can't be tolerated, then cardiac oblation may be an option. You don't say whether you are on medications. If I was in your position, I definitely would be finding another doctor and getting a second opinion. Try to do some research on doctors in your area. Word of mouth is great if you know any other PM recipients in your area and can find an experienced doctor with good patient satisfaction stats.
