I had a pacemaker fitted in December 2014,
I have notified the dvla, will they take my licence off me ?
The reason for the PM was fast heart and irregular beat,
Bit concerned now as could not survive without my car.

UK Driving Restrictions

For an ordinary car driving licence and no other complicating factors other than a PM, you are only restricted from driving for 1 week post op. You can then resume without any further form-filling or declarations. No licence endorsements or anything.
You have to tell the DVLA, they should have sent you an acknowledgement letter, which in my case arrived long after the week was up anyway!

After my first ICD done at Mayo Clinic, I was told not to drive for 5 - 6 weeks. The second ICD was told not to drive for 3 - 4 weeks (also done at Mayo Clinic. My last one was done here in Michigan, and I was driving within 2 weeks. It depends and how you feel and what your doctor says. This information is for a ICD. I am sure it would a little less for PM I just renewed my license and was never asked about ICD,
Not in the USA

In the UK, they might do things a bit differently than they do here in the USA. In the state I live in, a pacemaker is considered a remedy to a medical issue. Therefore, a driver's license will not be taken, revoked or restricted.
No Issue In Canada

I never had a restriction from driving after surgery. I am a professional aviator by trade. I was back flying in 6 weeks with no medical restrictions.
You know you're wired when...
You have a T-shirt that reads Wired4Sound.

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.

Unless you have been passing out, there should be no restrictions on driving beyond the first 30 days. If you are at risk, the dr will notify dvla, no need for us to do it.
