I'm confused about this issue...I've done some searching on-line - but you all know better aince you're living with this type of device.
I'm interested in learning about the MRI safe PM's - My Dr told me that Medtronic and Biotronic are the only 2 companies that make offficially safe MRI PM's...and MRI safe means - from the head up and then waist down - you still cannot get a thoracic MRI.
I read a post on here about the leads being different in the MRI safe devices - it...

Just curious if anyone else has dealt with this? I was totally unaware I had it until a recent interrogation. The tech changed the postventricular atrial refractory period, hoping to prevent it from recurring.

Are there any depressants better than others when you have a pacemaker? I do hear there are some you cannot take because they interfere with heart rhythm.

Greetings! I recently got a biventricular pacemaker with an implantable defibrillator. My first question is if I were to take the poll, would I say I had a dual lead pacer, a CRT-D or an ICD? I don't understand all the terminology yet.
My main question is this: How do I find out specifically what to avoid? I know that my cell phone shouldn't be within 6" of my heart and I shouldn't stand next to a cell tower but.... how do I know other stuff? I was getting ready for a fitness test and...

Went to the dentist recently and he said he wouldn't work on me unless I pre-medicated (there on the spot) with 4 pills of anti-biotics. Is this common?

Hi, I had dual Ensura pacemaker fitted 2nd October 2014 at my last check up with my cardiologist he told me I was super sensitive to the pacing of my pacemaker this was diagnosed after having a 48 hrs monitor on to try and find out what the "weird" feelings were that I was having. They had settled down a lot but the last week this "weird" feeling has really be bothering me, the day time is not to bad but night time is terrible it's there every night for hours, I'm not getting much sleep with it...

Was suppose to have battery replaced in September but had to post pone due to my mother getting ill. Next thing Im told that my Dr. was going to a new location and I would be receiving a letter to pick a new Dr. Never came so I called and asked what's going on. Had me come in (its now December) and checked out my Battery life. Was told it should have been replaced in October, but not to worry because I pace so little. I was implanted in 2003.Its now January and I meet with the new Dr. on the 20...

Has anyone ever felt "tingling" 2-3" under there pacer ? I started about a month ago feeling it and it comes and goes, no pain, just like a little electric tingle is the best way to explain it.

Good morning! I came across this group after a couple hour search of information regarding pacemakers. Long story short I have a dear friend of mine, Marine veteran, who is in need of having a pacemaker. Unfortunately he does not currently have health insurance. I am just looking for information regarding possible services/grants/coverage to pass along to him. Thank you all so much for your help!
Placement of AED with a pacemaker

Hi all,
I went back to work and was talking with the school nurse who was concerned about the correct placement of the defibrillatort if she ever needed to use the AED on me. My Medtronic MRI safe pm is only a pm, would she use the "normal" position or would she need to use a sandwich method? I called medtronics and they could not give me a clear answer so I thought that I would ask the experts!
Thanks

I was told no MRI with a pacemaker. I am doing fine with the pacemaker, but I am in terrible pain with Arthritis of my leg and hip. I know they will want a MRI to see what is going on, and I was told no MRI. Does anyone know what type of test you get if you cannot get a MRI.

Can you guys help me? When I got my PM 12 months ago, I was Dx as 2nd degree Mobitz Type 2 heart block. During a recent check-up, my Dr turned off the PM for a moment and I nearly fell off the table I was so extremely dizzy. He said I have now developed complete heart block with no escape rhythms. I'm pacing 100% in the ventricle and around 10% in the atrium.
What I dont "get" is questions on this site from people wondering if they need or should get a PM because they have complete...

In2004 I had pm out in In2010 found it never worked! Lead wire put on wrong side! A pacemaker, defibulator & Jump starter wire put in. 3-1-2012. One year later it started vibrating, then humming! Dr. tried diligently to find problem. Finally sent me to Cleveland Cliniic in Ohio who thought it was a pinched nerve behind the heart! SuggestedI see a medical masseuse. 4 th visit it started vibrating. Wouldn'see me anymore until they found out the problem! Nov 12 had new pm put in & day before...
You know you're wired when...
