Getting a MRI

I was told no MRI with a pacemaker. I am doing fine with the pacemaker, but I am in terrible pain with Arthritis of my leg and hip. I know they will want a MRI to see what is going on, and I was told no MRI. Does anyone know what type of test you get if you cannot get a MRI.

Check with EP

Check with your EP. If they gave you a MRI safe PM with the MRI safe leads, you'll be able to get your MRI.

If you can't get an MRI with your PM, they'll probably have suggestions about what you can do.

Hope everything turns out well.

Arthritis

Your Doctor (and you) should be able to see how bad the arthritis is in your hip and other joints with an X-Ray.

My hip was bone on bone and you can plainly see it on the X-Ray. That and your amount of pain is telling.

BTW, if you are on the fence about getting a hip replacement if needed, don't be. You should feel so much better and no pain after that implant.

Feel free to private message me if you have any questions about the surgery and how to prepare beforehand.

Feel better.

mri

If you have an mri-safe device, you can have an mri under certain conditions. If your device is not specifically mri safe but your leads are less than 10 years old, there are more and more places able to do mri on us.

I've had CT when they wanted MRI. It doesn't show as much, but they were able to get what they needed.
