Vote in the new poll if you haven't already! It's on the right sidebar. We've had a few discussions recently about how many people have what kind of device, so let's find out what our members have.

Since I'm still less than a year since implantation, every now and then I come up with something that I can't answer through searching the forum.
I am curious as to the effect different weather temperatures have on the way the device feels in our chest. Right now with this heat, and what I lovingly refer to as "sweaty boob syndrome" my incision has been itchier than it has been since the immediate healing period after implantation last October. Driving me a bit batty. Also, when...

When I was told I needed a PM, an image of a bunch of old people popped in my head. "I'm too young" I said. Just now I was perusing the photo gallery and found out that I AM the old guy! Apparently people of all walks and ages require a PM sometimes.

Hello. I just received my PM 08/19/14, and when I woke up from surgery I felt 100% better. I might be a non-typical case in that I am 57 years old, and was scheduled for surgery 4 days after my symptoms presented. I was in bad shape, and it happened very quickly. I was looking at my copy of the bill (WOW) and noticed that they originally intended to install a St. Jude PM3210 ($16,000 plus) and then changed it to a PM3242 ($7,000 plus). Was this an upgrade or a downgrade? I do know that I had to...

We are having trouble with our landline service Time Warner. (The tv, internet and land line keeps going down) It has been going in and out. It says check tell line. I am worried that when I am due for a check up that it will go blank In a middle of a pacer check especially when they speed up your in the checkup and then phone goes dead so to speak and there is no way of slowing the down heart. I am wondering what will happen. I don't trust phone test. Would you do the phone with phone blanking...

Hello Again :)
So three months post-op and after lots of fun (complications). I was wondering if it is normal for the skin above the pacemaker to feel like pin pricks or pinching if you touch it or sometimes just moving will cause the pain. Also today I'm noticing an ache over the pacemaker site. Even just breathing seems to bother it right now. It also seems as if it may have moved some closer to my arm pit and the bra strap doesn't help. I chose to have it put on my right side because I d...

Have your named your device?
I figure since it is so much a part of us, we should probably be on a first name basis!
I was considering Filbert, but am not sure yet....

I just saw that Arnold Palmer had a PM implanted recently. I wonder if we will be seeing him joining anytime soon. For those of you not enough to remember his days on the golf circuit, he was a class act with a working class swing who was followed by an army of supporters - "Arnie's Army". If he joins, he will find plenty of supporters on this great site!

How common is it to take 1 baby aspirin a day and develop an ulcer? I suspect that's what's going on with me but would like others to weigh in. Do they switch you to a different drug? I've had 1 blood clot and some aFib.

Hi all. Very glad I found this site! I am 65 and was diagnosed with atrical fib a few years ago. It is well controlled. However, I developed sleep apnea and my pulse began dropping into the low 30's at night and in the morning. Wore a monitor for a month and it showed sinus pauses at night as long as 7 seconds. Solution: pacemaker. I got 2 opinions and ran it by my primary care doc.
My heart was also not responding to exercise. No matter how far I walked, I could not get my rate u...

I had a new pacemaker put in 2 weeks ago. The new one feels like it is much closer to the skin and is protruding. Is this normal, is it just swollen or is it possible that my new device has moved. I am really worried

My doc gave me a script for CT Arthrogram of knee because of pain. BCBS requires a pre-cert, its going to Physicians Review, has anyone dealt with this ? I understand the pre-cert, usually a nurse reviews within 24 hours, but with Physicians Review ?? Guess what people cannot do MRI's !!!!!

I'm a 28 year old mother of one. I'm in the works of being diagnosed with symptomatic bradycardia and have been hearing a lot about pacers.
My problems really presented themselves a year ago after my child. Chronic fatigue, zero energy. Tunnel vision, spots, dizzy, lightheaded, confusion. Most recently I passed out. I had a visit with a cardiologist about 5 months ago and he cleared me saying for a tall, thin, athlete my 60-45 HR was fine and he wasn't sure why I was having sympto...

Hi - On another forum, have been discussing the AliveCor ECG for use with iphone. However, some folks with PMs are using it and others say it isn't any use for anyone with a PM. My PM is St Jude and is set to keep my rate at 60 and above. That's all it does. So I wonder if I can get any use from the AliveCor? I have having a bit of an up and down time with ectopics following ablations for atrial fibrillation and I've had 3 monitors, one I just had for a week, where unfortunately, my heart...
