Hi - On another forum, have been discussing the AliveCor ECG for use with iphone. However, some folks with PMs are using it and others say it isn't any use for anyone with a PM. My PM is St Jude and is set to keep my rate at 60 and above. That's all it does. So I wonder if I can get any use from the AliveCor? I have having a bit of an up and down time with ectopics following ablations for atrial fibrillation and I've had 3 monitors, one I just had for a week, where unfortunately, my heart wasn't dancing around as much as it usually does. So I want to see if I can capture something for my cardiologist. It's quite expensive - £167 so before going ahead, I'd appreciate any info, thanks. Great to find this site - I can't find an equivalent UK site.

Searching keywords AliveCor Pacemaker, I found this.
http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20120511005732/en/AliveCor-Announces-Smartphone-Electrocardiogram-Demonstrates-Accuracy-Monitoring#.U_kPkl651s4
"In five patients with pacemakers, pacing spike artifacts were clearly identified in all five enabling verification of pacing capture "
I had wondered if the PM would produce too much "noise" and therefore make the AliveCor results too hard to read, but according to this not. And obviously, there was no difficulty in using it with PMs.
Hope this helps.
Update on Alivecor with PM

Hi and sorry for the delay in logging in again to the site and thanks for the comments.
Just to give you an update, I have had the monitor for a while now and it has been quite successful in identifying single and multiple occasions of PAC's. If I get an analysis (£5 each time), it sometimes not 'pacemaker detected, working correctly'.
So from my point of view, I am very pleased I got it and it is a very efficient tool, helps me with discussions both with my GP and EP.

Until reading this post, I hadn't heard of AliveCor so you can estimate how much my opinion is worth. That said, I think it might be useful, and I see no reason a PM would interfere.
A standard PM won't prevent PVCs or PACs, so it's hard to see how it could negate the value of the AliveCor's readings. If I had had one, it might not have taken two years to diagnose my PVC-induced pacemaker mediated tachycardia.
Let us know if you learn more. I might like one myself.
