Travel by bus in real bad roads

Hi, I had my PM installed about 3 weeks ago. Have no problems till now. I would like to know if I can travel by bus or car for about 12 hours on real bad roads with lot of potholes etc. Will it affect the position of the PM or the leads. Thanks in advance.

Surgery tomorrow (7/10/14)

Hi all,

I am 33 year old male in great physical health. At least according to all the tests run at the hospital.

This passed Saturday I experienced a vasovagel episode in which I passed out six times over a two or three hour period, some times from a lying down position. During the worst two episodes my heart paused for 12 seconds. The cardiologist and EP recommended that I have a PM implanted. I have a small history of other episodes spaced out over the last 15 years,...

Neurocardiogenic Syncope

Syncope (fainting) is one of the most common medical ailments encountered in clinical practice. Although frequently thought of as a condition with a neurological origin, it’s actually a cardiovascular problem - as such, a neurologic work-up is seldom rewarding. The two main causes of sync...

Hi from Pookie

Hi everyone!!!!!!!

I have been online from time to time but I haven't been commenting on many posts because they have already been answered quite adequately.

Just wanted to let you all know I am still here....however, I had my 2nd Sinus Surgery on July 3rd and am still recovering. The 1st one (2 years ago) was a breeze; this 2nd one has been very painful, but with each day passing it does get a bit better.

Take care,
Pookie

Is an EMG (nerve conduction study) safe?

My neurologist would like to do an EMG test on my arm . I think have a nerve pinched in my elbow. This is called cubital tunnel. Has anyone had an EMG? I am pacemaker dependent for four year after 3rd degree heart block almost took my life. I am 100% paced so nervous for anything that might be not safe. I will call my pacer maker, Boston Scientific ,and call my cardiologist first. I value input and personal experiences from here so please comment if you can,
Thanks

What a weekend

I was less than 2 weeks since my PM was implanted. We spent the 4th on the back of my Harley in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. I was a little surprised when we returned home I was not tired at all. For the past few years when riding for more then 6 to 8 hours I was completely worn out. And it normally took me a few days to regain my energy. But we got up Saturday and drove with the kids to take Grandparents out to lunch. I am so thankful that God makes people that dedicate their to h...

How do you trust what a Doctor tells you?

Hello Everyone

This is my 3rd 'Posting' since I got my PM 6 months ago..( 1/23/14.....at which time they put me on 'Satalol' a long with the 'Diltiazem' I had been taking for 4 & 1/2 years.......

What a differnence 5 months make

On Sunday I had my 5 month anniversary from my SCD. I walked 5 miles in the morning, swam in a mountain lake in the afternoon and had a romantic dinner and evening with my girlfriend. I am grateful for the support and insight I have gathered from this site. I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of my life!

One year

7/5 was my one year anniversary with my new friend-PM. I was 65 and very athletic when on 7/4 I was taken by ambo to ER where I was hooked up and the DR said that I had SSS. I waited the appropriate time period (two months) before returning to the gym - 3-4 days per week, golf and distance swimming. After my last check up the PM continues to only work less than 1% of the time. That means the battery should last forever. The DR still do not know the cause of my SSS, but now that I have the PM I d...

pacemaker card, how long?

When I left the hospital March 7, 2014 I left without a pacemaker card and no information about the model or serial number. After being readmitted for several procedures I am asked for this information but I never received it. I've contacted medtronics repeatedly and ordered on line twice starting March 20 and have yet to receive the card.

I put off a trip because I didn't want to travel without it--eventually I found some medical records and copied information on an index card bu...

fast heart beat

Thanks to everyone who gave me adivice on burning sensation in my arm pit. I took your advice and got rid of the sling during the day and use it only when sleeping. The pain is gone. I am 5 days out and decided to walk around my yard to start a little exercise (have been going upstairs in house) my heart was beating so fast 94 beats a minute. It felt so weird! I felt flushed and nervous. Has anyone felt this way when their heart rate went up? My heart rate was so slow before that it probably has...

Today was

A great day. Started out by finally using the weed wacker and it felt great! I was nervous about the vibrations but once I got going I did around the entire house with no issues at all. Took my son to pick out his birthday present, then took him fishing. We finished out the day with a mile walk up our hill. Best weekend in 6 weeks.

Norwegian Constitution Day

In the post on July 4th Grateful Heart asked to be told of special holidays for other nations.

17 May was the 200 year anniversary of Norway's constitution.

Between 1397 and 1814 Norway was part of the Danish Kingdom. After the Napoleonic Wars - when Denmark was on the side of France - the great powers decided to free Norway from Danish rule and award it to Sweden. Norway established its own constitution on the 17 May. It was not until 1905 that it was able to peacefully...
