My neurologist would like to do an EMG test on my arm . I think have a nerve pinched in my elbow. This is called cubital tunnel. Has anyone had an EMG? I am pacemaker dependent for four year after 3rd degree heart block almost took my life. I am 100% paced so nervous for anything that might be not safe. I will call my pacer maker, Boston Scientific ,and call my cardiologist first. I value input and personal experiences from here so please comment if you can,
Thanks

Because I didn't regain full hand function after healing from a broken wrist, I had an EMG about 9 months post PM implant. Turned out I had both cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel.
Based on my experience, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that the EMG study is quite painful. The extreme pain only lasts a few seconds at a time, but it's over and over.
The good news is that there was no effect whatsoever on the PM. You can stop worrying.
