The time is here...

Hello friends!! Haven't been on here for a long time and just thought I'd post a couple questions since you guys are very good with advice. I'm getting a new pacemaker February 19th. This will be number 3 for me but it will be a little bit different this go round. I have a new/better EP this time, since the last one had 'stupid' wrote on his forehead (bad vibes with him). ;) Anyway, the new EP told me that I'd have to have my pocket revised this time because this pacemaker is going to be bigger...

costs

I was checked yesterday at French hospital in San Luis Obispo and was told I needed a new battery. My Medtronics is pumping out for 4 leads and has lasted just three years. I think they gave me a used one to have run out so quickly.

I asked the cost for a new one and she told me $200.00. My 20% I paid on the spot. I guess it's another used one.

I am worried though. First implant took almost 6 hours. Doc said the leads kept coming loose. I taught the d...

What do you wish people knew.

Hey Guys, I thought this would be the perfect place to reach out and see what kind of awareness we would like to bring to the world about cardiac issues, pm, icd, etc.

I am a writer and my debut novel Heartless is coming out in March. My Heroine has a few heart conditions because I'm tried of reading about people with perfect lives and all their struggles are only surface deep. So I wrote a lot of my experiences into her story to make it real.

As part of my release, I wan...

Pacemaker pacing

I received my pacemaker in June. The last few days I have noticed a sensation on my left side sporadically. It is not painful, and lasts only a second or two. I don't believe it is my heart "fluttering . Wondering if it is my pacemaker pacing? It only happened a few times yesterday. Could it be a nerve? Anyone else had similar sensation. My Bp and pulse are fine and I feel fine. Thanks

Showers and baths

Browsing the St Vincent's website on living with a pacemaker...I found we can still-with doctors permission- resume work, do house and yard work, and....take showers and baths. Seriously???Who writes this stuff???
Makes me really grateful for this site. I think of Tracey doing cross fit, hiking, and skiing, Donr defending his home from bears, Moner jogging in freezing New England winter weather, Ian snorkeling his way through a flooded golf course, Tatman running in ice, snow, and at night...

New PM.....1/13/14

I am new and have lots of questions. I hit the er with pulse rate of 38. (Jan 11th) 2 hrs. later they put in temporary pacemaker. My heart did not jump in and take over as doc had hoped so a permanent pacemaker was put in January 13th. I have not had any pain, you can barely see scar, but I feel no different energy wise????? There is some mental adjustment, but I know I am so lucky to be alive! When will I start feeling energized??? So happy to have found this support group. Hope everyone is doi...

Airport Security Scanners

Heart attack and ICD implant in June and July 2013. Last week was my first trip outside of Canada. I was quite hesitant about the trip but also knew I wasn't prepared to live my life like that forever.

Just wanted to let those who are anxious about travelling through airports that it was absolutely NO PROBLEM!! Never told anyone I had an ICD. Simply walked through eight different airport scanners with out any bells or whistles going off. Also went through cruise ship scanners an...

British invaded U.S

Musically speaking. :-)

Here in the U.S, we commemorate the British Invasion this week for 50th years.

Anyway, I saw on CNN, they mentioned a band called "Gerry and The Pacemakers".

I wonder if the band members all had pacemakers?

Salute to the Brits ! Keep the music coming.

Have a nice day.

My Mom is 83...

Hi group...I wanted to learn about lives of folks with pacemakers. My Mom, who is 83, is currently 300 miles away in a hospital. Her husband just called me to let me know that her doctors found her heart is sometimes dropping to 30 beats per minute and that they'd like to put in a pacemaker. She's my best friend and I'm worried. You guys should know...do ya think, if her health is otherwise good, that she should do well? Thanks very much,

Minor tingling feelings in my heart.

Just had a Medtronic Adapta DR pm implanted on 12/20/13. No issues post implant. Recently every once in awile I get a tingling feeling for a second or two and it goes away. Should I be concerned? In addition, I have notice that my BP has been evaluated on an inconsistent basis. Any concern here?

Who is advertising here

I notice the St Jude Medical Advert at the top of the page. This is ironic as I believe that St Jude is a resurfaced company name for Telectronics after they had such a fiasco with massive court cases over broken J-Wires on an atrial lead. They treated the "victims' by denial and in Canada declared bankruptcy before final court settlements of the Class Action. Many died and there were many cases of tamponnade, not sure what final outcomes of legal action in USA were, maybe still going on.

Good morning

Been having a ruff time the last few days with fluid build up. I had put on 12 lbs in three days. I had to go in and get some Lasix shots yesterday and that took off 6 lbs. I'm very tired, but hanging in there.

This cold weather here has been taking a toll on me too! The good thing is that it should warm up to the low 60's today. We still have a ton of ice on the ground. That is something we don't see here to often. LOL Thank God for that.

How in the world do you people pu...

Crystal again

Hi!

So, I'm going to make this public now because I'm really angry. This journalist named Crystal has contacted me again, and apparently she is under the impression that because this is an online forum open to the public, anything we write here openly plus the name we put under it, she can take and use for the article she writes. Quote Crystal:

"As you ask, I won't say anything about you in my story that you haven't said in a post open to the public on this site. You did pu...

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
