Airport Security Scanners

Heart attack and ICD implant in June and July 2013. Last week was my first trip outside of Canada. I was quite hesitant about the trip but also knew I wasn't prepared to live my life like that forever.

Just wanted to let those who are anxious about travelling through airports that it was absolutely NO PROBLEM!! Never told anyone I had an ICD. Simply walked through eight different airport scanners with out any bells or whistles going off. Also went through cruise ship scanners and scanners at various other countries. Had my card ready but it was not needed. I know this question gets asked quite a bit. Follow the travel card you get from your device provider. It says to walk through normally and they are right. I know in some airports or other areas it may not work like that but I had a great experience. Can't wait to go back in March!!

New scanners

I don't do the old scanners but the new ones that have you raise your arms, I go through. I look before I speak and if its the newer ones I just walk right through. I am still iffy on the older ones and still say that I have a PM. Never had a problem with it. I always have my card ready. I only had to show my card once...that was just a few years ago.
