Any problems after 3 months?

I am 42 and always felt like I was in pretty good shape. Was diagnosed with AV Block and had dual chamber PM put in 12/10/13. I am anxious to get back to exercise and especially golf, but plan on waiting for 3 month mark. Has anyone out there had any issues with leads becoming dislodged from activities after the 3 month mark?

Thanks

For those of you suffering emotionally

The ancient Greeks believed the heart was the seat of emotions. Thats not at all surprising when you consider how our heart rates respond to feelings of fear, pain, anger, love, etc. So for those of you whose lives have been suddenly affected by the need for a pacemaker and are struggling to get back to a normal existence, you need to understand that treating the mind is just as important as treating the body. For some who are mentally "tough" it is a relatively quick and easy transition. For m...

Correct me if I'm wrong....

From what I understand, here's what the PM can help and not help these situations. Please correct me if I'm wrong or make additions to the conditions that I'm missing.

PM can NOT help:
1. Afib
2. PVC's
3. PAC's
4. Pauses (skipped beats)
5. Irregular beats
6. Vtach
7. Atach
8. Heart attack
9. Angina

PM can help:
1. Heart block
2. Bradycardia (basically Sick Sinus Syndrome)

So, come to think of it,...

Not impressed

New to site. In Sept/12 diagnosed with dialated cardiomyopathy, chf and with an ef of 8%. Already diabetic & have a stomach issue. Up to one point had 5 cardiologists. Now have 3. EF went up to 25% but is now back down to 15%. After 16 months of being off work, afib, numerous emerg visits & 2 more hosp stays, they have finally decided to put in an icd/crt. On the waiting list for that. They are saying late Feb. Being assessed for sleep apnea this week. Attended cardiac rehab for 6 sessions but b...

Greetings

At 56 I'm a week out from my AVN ablation/pacemaker procedure. I spent many years in chronic Afib and look forward to the absence of heart fluttering and lack of energy. My EP set me up with a dual-lead (bi-ventrical) Boston Scientific pacemaker. The procedure went very well and so far, recovery has been a piece of cake. I haven't gotten out much except to walk everyday but the biggest change I've noted is that my hands are warm for the first time in years.
The jury's still out as to whethe...

Didn't mean to give the impression that I wasn't impressed with this site. Only joined 2 weeks ago but have been reading posts for months. My mother died of heart disease when she was 49. I was 12 at the time. She knew she was dying & didn't tell anyone. There was a problem with the cardiologist. Most of my family is in healthcare. My cardiologist that with the family history & that I had virus in the last 10 years that affected the heart. They were surprised that I have no coronary artery dise...

HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS DEVICE

I was watching TV and this ad for a device called LIGHT RELIEF came on. It is for sore muscles/joints/arthritis pain and uses light technology to heal the muscles/joints and take away the pain. I am suffering from frozen shoulder and neck pain from my pace maker procedure and called to see if the device was able to be used with a pacemaker. No one seemed to have any information on this and I was giving a customer service number to call durning business hours on Monday, which I will do. <...

No change in HR during cold weathe

Does anyone experience no change in heart rate in cold temperatures? Just stays at your demand rate.

In my case, I am experiencing an exaggerated increase in blood pressure in cold temps but no change in HR. Stays at demand rate of 60. BP goes from 110/70 to 140/80's and higher with activity. HR just pings at 60 the whole time. These vital signs bring on a heighten awareness for me. Take precautions but find this very odd?

I tried doing some searches and nothing comes...

Seat belts.

Let me start by saying, hello. This is a odd question that I don't know how to word... So here goes nothing. Anyway I am very big into cars, and one thing I want to do when I get my car is replace my factory seats with racing seats. Where does my pacer come in? Well I have been in a few accidents were I was sitting behind the driver and the seat belt goes right over my pacer and it has sent me to the ER a number of times. Well with me starting to drive I'm worried about the seatbelt issue. I was...

Cost of remote interrogation

Does anyone have a rough idea how much this costs with a Merlin at home? My EP office staff, billing dept, pacemaker clinic, St. Judes, my insurance co and cardio don't know. The monitor I wore prior to getting a pacer was 5,000.00 and another 1,000.00 plus for the cardio to read it. Insurance didn't cover the monitor. No way am I going to do the remote check unless the office can give me a ballpark figure on this. My low deductible insurance that I pay a ridiculous amount for doesn't start f...

Static Electricity

I was out at the shops yesterday when I touched one of the shelves and got a good zap, I touched it again and received a another jolt, I thought the shelf was live, however it turned out to be me, I must have had a fair bit of static electricity built up in my body, silly question, however I thought I would ask anyhow, could that sort of thing interfere with the pace-maker ?

Foot reflexology concerns?

Am I being reasonable?

Happy New Year Everybody,

I just came back from my 4 month interrogation report, I haven't paced at all. I'm VS / AS 100%. Settings are 40/180

The reason I had a pacemaker implanted was due to situational syncope, and nothing more.

I'm very active and jog 45-50 miles each week.

When it came time to give me my next appointment, I requested my visits go from 4 months to 6 months, since I only have an EP and not a cardiologist, I was told I needed to ge...
