I AM NEW to this site. i can't find the message i posted and any responses. i had a metronic pacemaker inserted dec. 2012. i had a period of time i was feeling fairly well. i was able to walk 20 min. per day and go to the gym. conversely, i have gained wt., have a torn menescus and became inactive and easily exhausted. what happened? can my pacer be causing this or is this coming from somewhere else?

Since i last posted, i have deteriorated further.
I am at the point where i can barely do my hoyusework and laundry. i gave up trying to walk as i previously was doing, i just don't have the energy.
I am in atrial fibrillation now most of the time which i wasn't in a year ago.
I am not getting any reason for my decline by my electrophysiologist or my cardiologist. matter a fact, i was thinking of changing dr's as i don't seem to be getting anywhere. I am scheduled for a echocardiogram this week and see my cardiologist on thurs.
anyone have any help for me?

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
A Myriad of reasons

Diane: 1) I have searched the archives & can find nothing beyond what is in the current messages.
Have you changed the spelling of your screen name in any way since before?
2) Your post is kinda muddled for time sequence, so I'm going to guess that the sequence is PM, walk 20 min per day, go to the gym, gained wt, torn meniscus, inactive & exhausted easily.
3) If that is the case, I can assure you that the PM has had ZERO relationship to the torn meniscus. PM's just don't affect knees!
4) The way I add & subtract you are about 68 yrs old. You are entering the period of life where you "Decondition" relatively quickly & badly from inactivity.
5) Have you had the knee fixed? That is critical to returning to an active life - the only thing that will help you lose weight.
6) you have not told us how your heart is functioning w/its new PM? A report on that would be helpful.
7) All the heart does is provide the blood flow to carry Oxygen & nutrients to the muscles. The rest - activity - is up to the owner of the heart.
Some of it may be coming from your body just starting to wear out. Happens to all of us. Cannot tell w/o more details.
