Not impressed

New to site. In Sept/12 diagnosed with dialated cardiomyopathy, chf and with an ef of 8%. Already diabetic & have a stomach issue. Up to one point had 5 cardiologists. Now have 3. EF went up to 25% but is now back down to 15%. After 16 months of being off work, afib, numerous emerg visits & 2 more hosp stays, they have finally decided to put in an icd/crt. On the waiting list for that. They are saying late Feb. Being assessed for sleep apnea this week. Attended cardiac rehab for 6 sessions but became to weak & tired to continue. So sitting at home not being able eat, sleep or do much of anything else. You also find out who your friends are when your sick. Will be 46 in 2 weeks maybe. Well that's it for now.

Be impressed

I think you will be impressed with the people and what they went through on this site. And there's no "may be" that you will be 46 in 2 weeks. You WILL be 46 in 2 weeks (Happy early birthday). I'm 48. So, we're from the disco era. You are right that you find out who your friends are when you're sick. You will have plenty on this site.
I wish you well. Please keep us posted with your procedure when it comes. At the mean time, you can continue to vent, question or shoot the breeze, the members here will listen.

with this wonderful site and all the people on here. You can be angry at what you're going through, or you can remember the ones [like my parents, both passed away in 1974] who never got the chance for this wonderful technology. I was so afraid at first. Felt like a robot. But the PM began racing sometimes. I was scared, but I got passed it quick. HE was keeping me alive to see all my sons doing so well. And 8 grandkids! I began to embrace the PM. I even named him Nascar. He now lives on the mantel..his work is done after 4.5 years of keeping me alive. Nascar 2 now has the job.
Best of luck, keep us posted. Kreth

Getting real

by BillMFl - 2014-01-13 09:01:11

I'm not going to sugar coat it. You are in serious trouble. You left out the story of how you got there. Did you conttribute thru life style choices? At 48 you are way too young to be this sick. I can totally understand your anger and fustation. But you have totally left out what got you to this point. Tell us your story and you just might find some friends in here who are dealing with much the same. If you don't put much in, you don't get much out. If you truely want to be more "impressed" you need to participate fully. There are lots of knowledgeable and compassionate people in here.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
