Twitches Near Heart

Hi,

I had a dual chamber pacemaker implanted almost two weeks ago. A day or two after the implant, I noticed twitching near the heart. The twitches are small, don't last long and are infrequent, but happen every day. Sometimes, I have them when I walk, sometimes when I am sitting or in bed. What could be causing this? Is it the pacemaker setting? Before the pacemaker, I was diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, VT, sick sinus syndrome, mitral valve prolapse with regu...

Pacemaker Websites

Hello everyone. I've picked up websites regarding pacemakers from various posts.

These are by no means complete as new ones are discovered every day. So you will see periodic posts of the sites from me.

While reading posts I'll occasionally remember someone talked about a website but I can't remember who or when. So I'm posting these in one convenient batch. They are alphabetical by name. Hope this helps.

3rd DegreeBlock

Hi,
I was admitted to the hospital with 3rd degree block and Torsades
10monts ago. Pacemaker doing the work, thankful every day for this technology!
My question is how to answer when people as, "did you have a heart attack?" My understanding is no, because it was a sudden electrical failure. However when I say that, I get a very perplexed look. Is there a term I can use to help folks understand without going through a whole explaination of total heart block?
Also, I know abo...

Coincidence

Got interrogated yesterday and found out my rate was 197 around the time I hit the ground at the Disney half marathon. The EP said the face plant was probably volume depletion, the SVT couldn't have caused it. Really?

Concern for 70bpm pacing?

Other than the faster depletion of the battery, are there any real negatives to having the pacer minimum set at 70? I guess I am wondering about any negative affects on my body understanding that I went from 35 to 59 bpm to a minimum of 70. At my first interrogation my EP mentioned that he might set the minimum back to 60 at the next meeting in four weeks but I am feeling so good at 70 I would like to stay there if there are no significant issues. The tremendous side effect of this pacing is tha...

Just an up date

Wednesday night was the benefit for the young man's family that passed away. The pirogue sold for $2400. I was really floored. In fact, the outcome was that we raised a little over $151,000. This has restored my faith in mankind. Over 400 people showed up for this. I even bought a duck hunt for two that set me back for $1100, but the wife gave me the blessing to do so. Now only if I could feel up to another trip up to north Louisiana. That one took a lot out of me. LOL

Teenage Newbie

So I'm new to the site even though I'm definitely not new to having a pacemaker. I've had seven pacemakers since I had my first one put in when I was only 19 days old. Well it's actually kind of interesting how I found this site. I'm 18 years old and in my first term of college and I was doing a writing assignment on something interesting about myself so I decided to write about my pacemaker. Well after presenting the assignment there was a question and answer segment and I was asked if I had e...

Respirate

Greetings All.
Before having a biotronic pace inserted, I used to us an apparatus known as "Respirate". It is a device that is supposed to lower one's blood pressure by ausing a breathing technique. A belt with a sensor which is connected to the the respirate apparatus is placed around your chest, the machine plays music and the mach. instructs you how to breathe. My question is since I have a pacer with a programed heart I'm wondering if its safe to use the respirate, since it is suppos...

Happy Happy

Hi Everyone!
I'm 5 weeks post-op and improving everyday. Yes, I still have pain but minimal, yes, I still have a few restrictions, but boy do I feel better and stronger than I did before I got "Gizmo". I had my adult kids over to help me put up my Christmas decorations, and we made gingerbread houses too. Then we played some games. I didn't get tired or have to lay down once all day!!! I'm sleeping like a baby, and have more energy than I have in at least 3 years. I still have a few coord...

Nervous - No More - Lucky and Happy

I've written several posting recently. One explaing being nervous as I was told a pacemaker was necessary and I had no information about the events to come. The second posting was how easy the pacemaker insertion went and how fast I felt better.

This my 3rd posting is close to the same as a couple others I have read on this site after surgery
:
Three days after insertion my left arm started swelling/ feeling tender, so I immediatly came to this site to see if others experi...

Thought of the day

I think we should move Christmas. The shops are so busy, traffic's horrendous and parking's a nightmare in December.

Glad it's over

I had the colonoscopy today (Tuesday so I guess yesterday). The Doctor and Nurses were great. This was the Gastro Doc that showed extensive interest in and knowledge of Pacemakers/ ICD's and the importance of having a rep present for the programming instead of a magnet.

The NP in my Cardio's office made the arrangement for the rep. to be there. The Gastro Doc and I were very grateful.

The rep showed up...not the rep I thought was coming but not the "don't wanna do my job...

Turning off pacemaker

Has anyone here had a pacemaker turned off after having several interrogations showing it wasn't pacing at all because the heart seemed to be working normally? (Not my situation -- just wondering.)

A Great Day

Just had to write about how I feel today. Just posted a new world record. Well, really, it's just a new personal best, but it's the best in my world. Road my exercise bike 21.1 miles in one hour and burned 777 calories. My previous best was 20.9 miles.
I'm just so happy that this thing in my chest has let me continue to do all the things I could do before my PM. I really get a sad feeling in my heart though when I read about all of you who continue to have problems. I almost feel a little g...

Good morning all

Just checking in. Been hanging in there with no real big problems. Hope everybody else is doing good.

Anyway, I did finished the pirogue. The bad new is that the young man that it was for, passed away. Sad day that I finished it the day before he passed. It will be going up for auction to raise moneys for his family. He left behind a wife of 10 years and two young kids, ages 7 and 8.

Well, take care all and God Bless,

ups and downs

Hi! Well it is 6 weeks post op and for the most part, I feel good. I was having chest pain/heaviness and bouts of lightheadedness so I went to see the EP yesterday. He decided to do another interregation and found out I am very sensitive to being paced. I was pacing 75-100% of the time. He "turned off" the PM, but really just moved my rhr to 40 instead of 60. (It was 29-40's when I got the PM). and he gave no upper hr limit. I went to the gym today and did better than last week, but that could a...
