Teenage Newbie

So I'm new to the site even though I'm definitely not new to having a pacemaker. I've had seven pacemakers since I had my first one put in when I was only 19 days old. Well it's actually kind of interesting how I found this site. I'm 18 years old and in my first term of college and I was doing a writing assignment on something interesting about myself so I decided to write about my pacemaker. Well after presenting the assignment there was a question and answer segment and I was asked if I had ever talked to another teen with a pacemaker and after I thought about it I said that I hadn't which got me intrigued to find out if there were other teens like me that have a pacer. So with all that said I look forward to chatting with other members about other topics and especially if there are other teens that feel free to comment. I'm glad I found this site and have already found it extremely helpful.

Use SEARCH function

Hi Derek28, welcome to this site. If you use the Search function on the top right hand side of this page and put in teenager you will see some results there already. Some admittedly being persons who got a PM in their teens and are now much older, but there are a few from teenagers and/or their parents. Best of luck to you. John

We have a lot of teen members come and go but I'm not aware of any who post regularly. They tend to be busy being teenagers! So glad you found us, welcome.

I was diagnosed when I was 5. The first time I met someone else my age with a pm, I was 40. Gotta love the internet :o)

20 & getting a pacemaker

Hello, I am not a teenager, but I am pretty close. I will be getting my first pacemaker next month, and I thought that it was odd for a 20 year old to have to get a pacemaker. I hope that everything is going well for you.

I was 7

I got my 1st PM at the tender age of 7...at that time I thought I was the only one with a PM. I am currently on my 5th PM...just got it 3 weeks ago. I have had family members who were a lot older then me get a PM. I actually never talked to anybody that had one until some one that I met (who at that time just recently got a PM...and was 20 or so years older then me) told me about this site 4 years ago. I sure wished that this site was around when I was a teenager. I had a lot of questions at that time.

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
