Nervous worker

I am a little nervous about returning to work since I am in a stressful job and I drive or patrol for a living. I am not sure what to do in terms of changing professions or telling my employer about my pm. I mean I have a very stressful job and do not want to have anymore heart problems. Has anyone else had these feelings about returning to work after pm implantation?

41yr old volunteer firefighter pacemaker

Hello! My husband is a 41 yr old who is also a volunteer firefighter. We have been in hospital six hours from home for two weeks now. He has been diagnosed with severe bradycardia , his heart goes down as low as 17 bpm and pauses for up to 5 seconds. He is an active, athletic type of guy. He is scheduled to have a pacemaker installed in two days. . Hopefully that will fix the problem and we can make our way home. Any words of advice or encouragement you can give him. Would like to read him some...

Goals

Sweet mercy, finished a12 mile run today, training as hard as I can for my advanced age:). So grateful for everyone on here who taught me something about attitude, adjustment, and life with a pm. My doctors haven't been real helpful past the surgery and I really appreciate having the people on this site to turn to and learn from. God willing I will be able to do the half marathons coming up this fall.

Genetic Cardiomyopathy

Hi,
My name is Jessie and I am 28 years old. My twin sister and I have both been genetically tested and found to have dilated cardiomyopathy and conduction disorders that go along with it. We are still waiting to get more information on everything since our appointment isn't until next week, but we are freaking out.

We started out with all electrical problems, so got tested thinking that would be it-instead we found out it is conduction and dilated cardiomyopathy. My sister's le...

Thinning Hair

Good morning,

Has anyone experienced thinning hair while on Amiodarone?

I've been taking it for 6 months...along with Carvedilol and Lorsartan. Google tells me that thinning of the hair is definitely a side effect of Amiodarone.

Does it ever return to normal??? Is there anything one can do to offset the thinning???

Prior to March of this year, I had a full head of hair and still do, but it's thinning fast.

Just curious if others have had s...

Brand New PM and Curious about Recovery

I was diagnosed with Bradycardia on Monday (August 26) and had my PM implanted yesterday (August 30)...I had episodes of dizziness, fatigue, lightheadedness, chest pain, numbness/tingling in the left arm...EKG was clear, Ultrasound was clear, Holter Monitor revealed heartbeat in the 30's many times in the 24 hour period...I was optimistic that the PM implant would do away with all lightheadedness immediately...I am 44 years old, active all my life, ran 3 days a week...It has been 24 hours since...

ICD Therapy

I was recently told that my ICD is set to 150 BPM. It's was my understanding that defibs work at three different levels of therapy. First one you don't feel, second feels like a thump to the chest and third is the full zap.

Does anyone know if it is the full zap at the 150 setting or just the first level.

I feel stupid for not asking the Dr. but I had to make a call to even find out what the defib was set for.

I would be remiss to not say once again what an...

Forgot I'd got a pacemaker!

Hi fellow pacers. I've not been in here for a very long time. Been so busy for the past 12 months I forgot I had a pacemaker and forgot about this wonderful club. In the early days of pacing I really do not know what I would have done without the support, friendship and information I got from this group, and now feel somewhat guilty that I've not logged in for so long. I've had an amazing year, my daughter got married in Malta, about 80 of us went out, had a lovely church wedding followed by...

Jean and all- surgery is soon

I have succumbed to the hospital time warp. Can't recall what day it is or when the next procedure is. I posted my wound closure was "Tuesday" when in fact it is today "Wednesday". I'm awaiting my "ride" to OR. Thursday I will have my new device implanted. Original schedule for all this was changed so pardon my postings which didn't make sense.
I'm ready to go. Wish me luck . I'll post soon. Take care!

Feeling down and very tired

Wow, whomever said that middle age was going to be nice well they were certainly wrong in my case.

I have been feeling quite tired for the last couple of months. I think that I even mentioned it here. I had a full cardio check-up with the Cardiologist on July 8th and everything that the Doc checked was right on the mark. Pacemaker doing it's job and no new problems to deal with. However I was still so very tired. My legs hurt, my muscles hurt, I can't sleep and to top it off I just...
