Wow, whomever said that middle age was going to be nice well they were certainly wrong in my case.
I have been feeling quite tired for the last couple of months. I think that I even mentioned it here. I had a full cardio check-up with the Cardiologist on July 8th and everything that the Doc checked was right on the mark. Pacemaker doing it's job and no new problems to deal with. However I was still so very tired. My legs hurt, my muscles hurt, I can't sleep and to top it off I just burst into tears while driving for no apparent reason! I am exhausted. I can't sleep, I can't work out, and I couldn't figure out why. I made an appointment with the PCM and he explained that I was overweight and needed to power walk and get my heart rate up. I was in tears and I tried to explain that I was too tired to do anything. I tried to tell him that I am on a heart medication to prevent my heart rate from becoming too fast so no matter how much I try my HR won't increase! I was a sobbing mess by the time I left his office. The dr. did order some blood test before I left. Then.... 3 days later I got a call from the dr. office. It seems that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. That's right! So I have huge amounts of Vitamin D-3 to add to my medications. It's only been a week, but I woke up this morning and I actually felt more like myself than I have in months. It is so weird that I had been feeling like I did before my pacemaker implant. Turns out that a severe vitamin D deficiency can mimic a heart issue. I'm feeling better now but I still don't believe my dr. should have been so mean to me that he made me cry. The test show it wasn't my fault! Crazy doctors. I told him I didn't feel well, Why won't they listen?
The point of my story is this.... Sometimes, it isn't our hearts. Sometimes it isn't because we are lazy. Sometimes it's a new problem that needs to be diagnosed and treated. Thank you for listening.
BTW, I am 5'2" and weigh 145 lbs. My hubby says that I'm short & curvy not fat! :)

Hi Pacergirl,
I agree with Donr, I sorry your doctor made you feel so vulnerable.
Vitamin D deficency can have a signifigant impact on are physical and MENTAL well being. There are numerous medical studies attesting to this theory, as well as medical articles, from well respected universities.
BTW, have you been tested for Lyme's diseare.
Hope you start feeling better real soon, I know you like chocolate, have a nice piece for yourself today.

...FAT! FAT is 5'3" & 250 - 300 lbs.
You're right, that's no way to treat a lady!
Vitamin D deficiency will do that to you. It's a test they must specifically ask for - it's not in any automatic list.

Has it been seven years? My goodness time flys!
I'm doing better. I've been taking the mega doses of Vit D-3 and it seems to be helping. I did forget to take my heart meds and my heart was racing, but that's better now too. I still haven't lost any weight, but I feel better so who knows, I might get out and walk. :-)
Still looking for a new primary dr. :)
Thanks all for you support!!!

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without a device just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.

I'm glad you may have found the answer. It sure looks like you have. Amazing! I wonder how many of us out here are going to run to the store and stock up on Vitamin D after seeing your post! :)
