I had a pm implant on May 24. The atrial lead came out. They turned it off and turned down the ventricle to 60 bpm. How safe is it to wait a couple months for revision. I am not pm dependant. I am pacing on one chamber.

Hi all,
Still trying to recoup from this ordeal. Had another test last week and found another clot in subclavian. The first was diagnosed in the superior vena cava. Dont know how they missed this one on the first test. My blood has thinned 3 times faster than it should have due to my other medications I was given so we have stopped lovenox injections and cut down the Coumadin dosage.
I was just wondering if anyone who has been thru this could tell me how they felt? I feel absolu...

I had a Pacemaker implanted one week ago. I'm 71. I'm generally OK (I took last week off from work) but have back pain to left of my spine & sometimes a burning feeling in my chest below Pacemaker. Is this usual? Are they typical symptoms?
Thanks
HSy

I see there is some research showing a high incidence of PTSD in people who have had heart attacks.
Get ready for the same for new pacemaker recipients. Maybe this is the cause of the emotional feelings that are being reported.
I'm not convinced one way or the other as yet, but thought you might be interested

I am 49 years old and had a pacemaker fitted on the 25th May 2012. It was fitted as I had heart block grade 2 but was complete heart block while they were fitting the pm. I had been in hospital for 3 weeks before the pm was fitted as they thought I might have an auto-immune disease as I was very fit and not a typical candidate for heartblock. In the end there was no explanation for the heartblock just bad luck. The pm was fitted and I went home the next day feeling shaky on my legs after 3 w...

I am after comments about what might happen if you have a severe rupture of the mitral valve in the heart due to endocarditis resulting in death and already have an artificial pace maker fitted. Will the pace maker continue to pump the blood through the ruptured valve even after the person is declared dead. What happens to the blood, where will it pool and could we expect that it could leak from the body.

My daughter plays beach volleyball under hydro lines. Am I able to stand under them? I've read that I can't go near magnetic fields. Does this count?

Hi all,
Thanks to each and everyone who responded to my post yesterday about my arm pain. I did go to the hospital and after an echo & doppler of the arm and subclavian vein, they discovered you were all correct! I have a blood clot in the superior vena cava vein with blockage to right arm. The test revealed no flow thru the arm. I have been given my first dose of Coumadin and first lovenox injection. Still having lots of pain but hopefully this will begin to subside now that I am getting p...

Hi all,
Posted about my arm pain yesterday but woke up this morning with arm swollen to double its size and discolored. It looks like your arm when a tourniquet has been on for too long. Called the hospital and they paged the ep on call. Just told me to come in the morning to see my ep. I love how they act like we are crazy when they don't know us!
Has anyone had the pain, swelling and discoloration? What should I be expecting with this? If anyone has experienced this please le...

Hi all,
In April of this year, I received my 15th pacemaker. I have a bi-pm. My battery life is always short due to several issues, mainly voltage requirements. However, I went downhill after that pacer. Had some adjustments made and fell back into full blown failure. Had echo and some other very interesting test to realize the two left leads had gone belly-up. (I have 4 leads, one in each chamber). The left ventricular lead had formed such an exit block it was not working at all, the other...

New to web site. Is it normal to feel beating in left side of body? Mine beats a lot all day long. Also still very shakey and tired after doing simple things. Taking two to three naps a day. Today is day 30. When do you feel normal? Very concerned about feeling beating all day, better when laying down. Thank you

Thursday 6/14, I'm getting my pacer interrogated to investigate rate and other "funky" issues. My pacer is firing during the refractory period, is sometimes lower than my set rate, it's undersensing, I'm having periods of atrial paced tachycardia, and ironically a PR prolongation despite being 99% paced.
I originally complained (and that was when I was at my wit's end) on May 24th. I'm finally getting this seen about and am not too happy about my doc's response or lack of.

I am writting for my father who had a Medtronic Enrhythm SureScan PM implanted in April 2009. 9 days ago had pacemaker to improve cardiac output. As soon as I sat up in hospital bed I noticed twitching in my left side. My Consultant said is was diaphragmatic stimulation and may improve or get worse. It was not noticeable when standing or laying flat, only when sat up. I went back yesterday and they reprogrammed the device (I remember a change in voltage and programmed to the minimum stimulation of the left ventricle).
The cardiac arrhythmia nurse said if this does not wo...
