Smart Meters

The electromagnetic fields created by smart meters are not strong enough to affect a PM unless you are standing right next to it wrapping your arms around it. It communicates via radio waves & they cannot be that strong.
I just looked at several reports on the health safety effects & the results are dependent upon the assumptions going into the study.
About the only thing that both sides can agree on is that the Smart Meter radiates at about the strength of a cell phone. Nowhere did i find any references that established that the meter's radiation is directional. I can see one potential safety issue - that is in a HUGE bank of meters on an apartment building. That creates an array type of antenna, & if the meters all radiate at the same time, it's possible to get a much stronger radiation strength at some points than at others.
I recall dealing w/ some Navy folks once upon a time in a former life. One of the most RF energy rich pieces of real estate around is the deck of an aircraft carrier. Hundreds of men mill around up there all the time & the Navy has not reported any problems w/ radiation making people sick.
I will go out on a limb & give my critics the saw to cut the limb off, but on this issue, I'm betting on it being a hysterical effect, just like when school kids get sick en masse at football games or at school after one child truly becomes ill & the others follow suit out of "Sympathy."
Face it - there is big time resistance to smart meters - not for health reasons to start with, but for the "Big Brother" issue. People do not want to be controlled by the Gummint or by business. The Smart Meter is the ultimate in BIG Something controlling us. The health issue is the strong suit in the anti- smart meter group's arsenal. It garners much more sympathy than any other issue.
There are several Meds that cause a cough & dizziness as miserable side effects. Is your son on any of those?

I have a smart meter on our home. My office is about 12 feet from it - it's outside, of course. I haven't noticed any side affects.

Maybe everyone has already seen this. I put it up just in case. We are getting reports of heart palpitations already in Maryland from the smart meters--other health complainants as well--some very serious.

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!

At the risk of appearing naive I must ask what is a "Smart Meter"? I did google it and it only comes up with an Electrical meter for electricity usage?
